Becky Duval Reese
Becky Duval Reese is an American curator and art museum director. She is best known for her work as the director of the El Paso Museum of Art (EPMA) and oversaw the museum's move in 1998. She was inducted into the El Paso Women's Hall of Fame in 2005. Biography Duval Reese attended New Mexico State University (NMSU) for both her bachelor and master of arts degrees. She went on to become the director of the Las Cruces Art Learning Center and later, the director of the Williams Gallery at NMSU. After NMSU, she became the educational curator of the University of Texas Huntington Art Gallery where she stayed for 15 years. Duval Reese moved to El Paso in 1991 order to become the director of the El Paso Museum of Art (EPMA). In 1998, she oversaw the move of EPMA from its old location to a new building she helped design in downtown El Paso. Jesús Moroles
Jesús Bautista Moroles (September 22, 1950 – June 15, 2015) was an American sculptor, known for his monumental abstract granite works. He lived and worked in Rockport, Texas, where his studio and workshop were based, and where all of his work was prepared and finished before being shipped out for installation. In 2008, he was awarded the National Medal of Arts. Founded in 1959, The El Paso Museum of Art (EPMA) is located in downtown El Paso, Texas. First accredited in 1972, it is the only accredited art museum within a 250-mile radius and serves approximately 100,000 visitors per year. A new building was completed in 1998. Downtown El Paso
Downtown El Paso is the central business district of El Paso, Texas. Historical downtown James Day, an El Paso historian, said that downtown's main business area was originally centered between Second Street and San Francisco Street. At a later point, the main business area was centered on Stanton Street and Santa Fe. In the late 1800s, most of the white American residents lived to the north of the non-white areas, living in brick residences along Magoffin, Myrtle, and San Antonio streets. Hispanic American residents lived in an area called Chihuahuita ("little Chihuahua"), which was located south of Santa Fe and west of Second.
