Long-distance Running
Long-distance running, or endurance running, is a form of continuous running over distances of at least . Physiologically, it is largely aerobic in nature and requires stamina as well as mental strength. Within endurance running comes two different types of respiration. The more prominent side that runners experience more frequently is aerobic respiration. This occurs when oxygen is present, and the body is able to utilize oxygen to help generate energy and muscle activity. On the other side, anaerobic respiration occurs when the body is deprived of oxygen, and this is common towards the final stretch of races when there is a drive to speed up to a greater intensity. The Junior women's race at the 2019 IAAF World Cross Country Championships was held at the Aarhus in Denmark, on March 30, 2019. Beatrice Chebet from Kenya won the gold medal edging Ethiopian runners Alemitu Tariku and Tsigie Gebreselama. All three medalists finished so tightly, they all were given the same finish time of 20:50. 2019 IAAF World Cross Country Championships
The 2019 IAAF World Cross Country Championships were hosted in the city of Aarhus in Denmark. It was the 43rd edition of the championships and was held on 30 March 2019. A part of the course was run on the grounds and grass roof of the Moesgaard Museum. The race was held in challenging conditions, due to the very muddy course and steep hills. The senior men's race was won by Ugandan Joshua Cheptegei, while the senior women's race was won by Kenyan Hellen Obiri. Schedule In keeping with past events, all five races, including the mixed relay, were held in the middle of the day. The junior races preceded the senior races, and the senior men's event concluded the program. The Bath Half Marathon (also known as the "BATHALF") is an annual road running half marathon held in Bath, England, normally on the second or third Sunday in March. The 2021 British Athletics Marathon and 20 km Walk Trial (known for sponsorship reasons as the Müller British Athletics Marathon and 20 km Walk Trials) was held on 26 March 2021 as a trial event for British athletes to qualify for the delayed 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. It was the first time since 1980 that a dedicated marathon trial event was held, and the courses consisted of multiple laps around Kew Gardens in London. The marathon events were won by Chris Thompson and Stephanie Davis, both of whom qualified for the Olympics as a result.
