Beckenham Railway Station
Beckenham railway station is a suburban railway station on the Transperth commuter rail network in Perth, Western Australia. It is located on the Armadale and Thornlie–Cockburn lines, from Perth station serving the suburb of Beckenham. It closed on 20 November 2023 for construction works as part of the Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal Project and reopened 8 June 2025. History The station opened in 1954 as Higham. The additional station, with two others on the Armadale line, marked the introduction of diesel-mechanical railcars on Perth's metropolitan passenger railways. Higham was renamed Beckenham in 1969. The platforms were staggered across William Street to minimise the time the level crossing is closed to road traffic. When the Thornlie line opened in 2004, Thornlie line services did not stop at Beckenham station, passing it between Cannington station and the new Kenwick rail tunnel towards Thornlie station. Beckenham is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Gosnells. History This suburb has seen many name changes. It was previously known as Buckingham, it once shared a "common usage" name of Waverley with East Cannington, and has one of the oldest and most well respected primary schools in Western Australia. Transperth Railway Stations
Transperth is the public transport system for Perth and surrounding areas in Western Australia. It is managed by the Public Transport Authority (Western Australia), Public Transport Authority (PTA), a state government organisation, and consists of train, bus and ferry services. Bus operations are contracted out to Swan Transit, Path Transit and Transdev WA, Transdev. Ferry operations are contracted out to Captain Cook Cruises Western Australia, Captain Cook Cruises. Cockburn Central station ( ) is a bus and railway station on the Transperth Trains, Transperth network. It is located at the juncture of the Mandurah railway line, Mandurah and Thornlie–Cockburn line, Thornlie–Cockburn lines, from Perth railway station, Perth station inside the median strip of the Kwinana Freeway serving the suburb of Cockburn Central, Western Australia, Cockburn Central. History During planning, the station was known as Thomsons Lake station. Cockburn Central railway station was designed to subsume the nearby Success Park 'n' Ride bus station. Armadale Railway Station, Perth
Armadale railway station is a temporarily closed suburban and regional railway station, located on the South Western Railway 30 kilometres from Perth station serving the suburb of Armadale, Brookdale and Haynes. It was demolished in November 2023 as part of a project to rebuild the station on an elevated viaduct and extend the Armadale line to Byford. Transperth Trains
Railways in Perth, the capital city of Western Australia, have existed since 1881, when the Eastern Railway was opened between Fremantle and Guildford. Today, Perth has eight Transperth suburban railway lines and 85 railway stations. The Transperth network is owned and operated by the WA Public Transport Authority (PTA) and consists of eight lines: the Airport, Armadale, Ellenbrook, Fremantle, Mandurah, Midland, Thornlie–Cockburn, and Yanchep lines. Thornlie Railway Station
Thornlie railway station is a suburban railway station on the Transperth network. Located from Perth station, it serves the suburb of Thornlie, Western Australia. It was the original terminus of the Thornlie line, a spur of the Armadale line, before the line was extended through to Cockburn Central station along the Mandurah line via two stations, Nicholson Road station and Ranford Road station. Upon completion of the extension, the Thornlie line was renamed the Thornlie-Cockburn line. Cannington is a suburban railway station on the Armadale and Thornlie–Cockburn lines, serving the suburb of Cannington south of Perth, Western Australia. It is located from Perth Station, and is part of the Transperth commuter rail network. History The original Cannington station was located between Station Street and Crawford Road in East Cannington, and was one of the original stations operational when the Armadale Line opened in 1889. The Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal Project is a project by the Government of Western Australia to elevate part of the Armadale line, thereby removing six level crossings and rebuilding five stations to modern standards. The project is a part of the wider Metronet (Western Australia), Metronet initiative undertaken by the state government.
