Bebutov
Bebutov ( hy, Բեհբության, ''Behbutyan'' ka, ბებუთოვი, ''bebutovi'', russian: Бебутовы, ''Bebutovy'') or Bebutashvili ( ka, ბებუთაშვილი, ''bebutashvili'') was a Georgian and Russian noble family of Armenian ethnicity which played an important role in the economical and social life of the city of Tiflis (Tbilisi) throughout the 17th and 18th century, and later served in the military of the Russian Empire in the 19th century. The family is known from the early 17th century when they migrated from Armenia to Georgia, and settled down in Tiflis. By the mid-17th century, they had emerged as one of the wealthiest mercantile families in the kingdom of Kartli. In the 18th century, they served as ethnarchs of the Armenians of Tbilisi (with the title of ''melik- mamasakhlisi''), and later also as Grand Masters of the Hunt (''mishkarbash'') at the Georgian court. Vasili Bebutov
Vasiliy Osipovich Bebutov ( arm, Վասիլ Բեհբութով, ka, ვასილ ბებუთაშვილი / ბებუთოვი, russian: link=no, Василий Осипович Бебутов) (1 January 1791 – 7 April 1858) was an Imperial Russian general and a member of a Georgian-Armenian noble family of Bebutashvili/Bebutov. Bebutov was in the military since 1809. Served in the Russo-Turkish War of 1806–1812 and the Patriotic War of 1812. Since 1816 he was Adjutant General of the H. I. M. Retinue and served with A. P. Yermolov. During the Russo-Turkish War of 1828–29 he participated in the takeover of Akhaltsikhe and commanded the defense thereof against an attempt by Ahmed Pasha of Adjara to recapture it for the Ottomans. In 1830 he was made the governor of the Armenian Oblast. From 1844–47 he fought Imam Shamil. Ioane ( ka, იოანე ბაგრატიონი) (16 May 1768 in Tbilisi, Georgia – 15 February 1830 in Saint Petersburg, Russia) was a Georgian prince (batonishvili), writer and encyclopaedist. Life A son of George XII, the last king of Kartl-Kakheti kingdom, eastern Georgia, by his first wife Ketevan Andronikashvili, Ioane commanded an avant-garde of a Georgian force annihilated by the Persian army at the Battle of Krtsanisi in 1795. Following the battle, the kingdom entered a period of economic crisis and political anarchy. To eradicate the results of a Persian attack and to overcome the retardation of the feudal society, Prince Ioane proposed on 10 May 1799, a project of reforms of administration, army and education.
