Beaver State Fling
The Beaver State Fling (BSF) is an annual disc golf tournament held at Riverbend Disc Golf Course at Milo McIver State Park in Estacada, Oregon. History Originally created as part of the now defunct Oregon Series by Teresa Trueba Embree and Cris Bellinger, the Beaver State Fling was built up from its original C-Tier to a PDGA National Tour stop in 4 years. By 2005, it was the 5th largest tournament in the world by attendance. In 2010, spots filled up in 30 minutes and for the 2011 tournament new skill-level restrictions limited the number of professionals, while a lottery system was introduced for amateurs. In 2020, the BSF was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2021 BSF was cancelled as well, due to a combination of winter storm damage and uncertainty around the state of the pandemic. In golf, par is the predetermined number of strokes that a proficient (scratch, or zero handicap) golfer should require to complete a hole, a round (the sum of the pars of the played holes), or a tournament (the sum of the pars of each round). For scoring purposes, a golfer's number of strokes is compared with the par score to determine how much the golfer was either "over par", "under par", or was "even with/equal to par". Holes are generally assigned par values between three and five based on the distance from the teeing ground to the putting green, and occasionally other factors such as terrain and obstacles. Paul Ulibarri (born September 7, 1988) is an American professional disc golfer from Show Low, Arizona. In 2006, he won the PDGA Amateur Disc Golf World Championships and began playing professionally the following season. As of June 2020, Ulibarri has competed in over 500 PDGA sanctioned events and has 107 career tournament wins. Richard Wysocki (born June 5, 1993, in Brunswick, Ohio) is an American professional disc golfer based in Fort Mill, South Carolina. Wysocki grew up in Medina, Ohio, near Roscoe Ewing Disc Golf Course. After winning the 2010 PDGA Amateur Disc Golf World Championship, Wysocki turned pro. Nikko Locastro (born September 16, 1988) is a professional disc golf player from St. Louis, Missouri. He has been playing the sport professionally since 2006. As of May 2023, Locastro was ranked 54th in the world, and had the 40th highest rating at 1027. In 2009, and then again in 2010, he broke Barry Schultz's season winnings record. He was previously sponsored by Gateway Disc Golf, Dynamic Discs, Innova Discs, and Prodigy Disc. by Westside Discs through 2021, and as of December 27, 2021 announced that he is leaving Westside for the 2022 season. Nate Doss is an American professional disc golfer who won three PDGA World Championships (2005, 2007, 2011). With his third win, Doss became only the second person to achieve three MPO world championship wins, after Ken Climo‘s twelve. Milo McIver State Park is a state park in the U.S. state of Oregon. It is in Clackamas County along the Clackamas River, near Estacada and close to Mount Hood. History The park was named in honor of Milo K. McIver.
