Thelonious Monster
Thelonious Monster is an American punk rock band from Los Angeles, California, led by singer-songwriter Bob Forrest and named after jazz musician Thelonious Monk. Active from 1984 to 1994, again from 2004 to 2011, and reforming a second time in 2019, the band has released five original studio albums. Described as having "traced emotional dips and bends with exceptional acuity and impact" History Members include Forrest on vocals; bass players Jon Huck, Rob Graves, Dallas Don Burnett and Martyn LeNoble; guitarists Chris Handsone, Bill Stobaugh, Dix Denney, Zander Schloss, Mike Martt, K.K. ''Stormy Weather'' is the third album by the American band Thelonious Monster, released in 1989. The CD version included their previous album, '' Next Saturday Afternoon''. The band supported the album by touring with Red Hot Chili Peppers and Fishbone. "So What If I Did" was a minor modern rock hit. Production The album was produced by John Doe. "For My Lover" is a cover of the Tracy Chapman song; "See That My Grave Is Kept Clean" is a cover of the Blind Lemon Jefferson song. Many of the songs are about accepting personal responsibility. Edward Colver did the photography for ''Stormy Weather''. "Sammy Hagar Weekend" is about teenage troublemakers in Anaheim; it was added to album when the band realized they had too many serious songs. Martyn LeNoble ( nl, Martijn LeNoble; born 14 April 1969) is a Dutch bassist and a founding member of the alternative rock band Porno for Pyros. He started his musical career by playing bass in a Dutch punk rock band when he was 14. In 1989, he moved to Los Angeles and played with Thelonious Monster and the Too Free Stooges. In 1992, he joined Peter DiStefano, Stephen Perkins and Perry Farrell to form Porno for Pyros. Zander Schloss (born August 7, 1961) is an American musician, actor and composer. He is known as bass player for the Circle Jerks, the Weirdos, his many collaborations with Joe Strummer musically and in film and for his contributions to independent feature films. Soul Asylum
Soul Asylum is an American alternative rock band formed in 1981 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Their 1993 hit "Runaway Train" won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Song. The band was originally called Loud Fast Rules, with a lineup consisting of Dave Pirner, Dan Murphy, Karl Mueller, and Pat Morley. They changed their name to Soul Asylum in 1983. Morley was replaced by Grant Young in 1984. The band recorded three albums with Twin/Tone Records and two with A&M Records, with little commercial success. Benjamin Montmorency "Benmont" Tench III (born September 7, 1953) is an American musician and singer, and a founding member of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Early years Tench was born in Gainesville, Florida, the second child of Benjamin Montmorency Tench Jr. and Mary Catherine McInnis Tench. His father was born and raised in the city of Gainesville, and served as a circuit court judge. Tench played piano from an early age. His first recital was at age six. Al Kooper (born Alan Peter Kuperschmidt; February 5, 1944) is a retired American songwriter, record producer and musician, known for organizing Blood, Sweat & Tears, although he did not stay with the group long enough to share its popularity. Throughout much of the 1960s and 1970s he was a prolific studio musician, playing organ on the Bob Dylan song "Like a Rolling Stone", French horn and piano on the Rolling Stones song " You Can't Always Get What You Want", and lead guitar on Rita Coolidge's " The Lady's Not for Sale", among many other appearances.
