Beaussac
Beaussac (; oc, Baussat) is a former commune in the Dordogne department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in southwestern France. On 1 January 2017, it was merged into the new commune Mareuil en Périgord. The community is located in the Périgord Limousin Regional Nature Park. History On Cassini's early map of France between 1756 and 1789, the village is identified as the Beaussat. In 1793, it is Baussac and in 1801, it is back to Beaussat. Geography The Lizonne forms the commune's southern border. The stream of Beaussac (''ruisseau de Beaussac''), a tributary of the Lizonne, forms the commune's southeastern border and part of the commune's southwestern border, separating it from Puyrenier and Rudeau-Ladosse. The town is located southeast of Angoulême, the largest nearby city. Mareuil en Périgord (, literally ''Mareuil in Périgord''; oc, Maruelh de Perigòrd) is a commune in the department of Dordogne, southwestern France. Hautefaye
Hautefaye (; oc, Autafaia) is a commune in the Dordogne department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in south-western France. It gained particular notoriety for a mob attack and murder of an innocent man, Alain de Moneys, at the time of the Franco-Prussian War, in mid-August 1870. Within three weeks, Emperor Napoleon III would be captured by the enemy and his regime overthrown by a self-proclaimed Government for National Defence. Rural France, which had largely been faithful to Napoleon I and welcomed his nephew, was tense. Lizonne
The Lizonne (), also called the ''Nizonne'', is a long river in the Dordogne and Charente departments in southwestern France. Its source is near Morelière, a hamlet in Sceau-Saint-Angel. It flows generally southwest. It is a right tributary of the Dronne, into which it flows between Saint-Séverin and Allemans. Jean Teulé
Jean Teulé (26 February 1953 – 18 October 2022) was a French novelist, cartoonist and screenwriter. He was the partner of actress Miou-Miou. Teulé’s book ''Le magasin des suicides'' (''The Suicide Shop''), published in 2007, has been turned into a film called ''The Suicide Shop''. It screened at the Newport Beach Film Festival in Newport Beach, California, on 28 April 2013 and 2 May 2013. Teulé died from a cardiac arrest on 18 October 2022, at the age of 69. Name The name is believed to be formed from individual masculine name -Connius, Gallic name, and the suffix -acum, which would correspond to the "domain of Connius".
