Beatservice Records
Beatservice Records (established 10 October 1994 in Tromsø, Norway) is a Norwegian record label releasing electronic music. It was initiated by Vidar Hanssen who was DJing for a local student radio with the program ''The Beatservice Radio Show'' at the time. Beatservice Records have released music ranging from minimalistic ambient via house and experimental techno to drum and bass. The label was an important factor in the mid-to-late 1990s popularity of the Tromsø based electronic music scene, both in Norway and elsewhere. It has released music by artists such as Biosphere, Elektrofant, Aedena Cycle, Kolar Goi, Flunk, Ralph Myerz, Xploding Plastix, Teebee, Sternklang, Kim Hiorthøy, Howard Maple, Bjørn Torske and Frost. Hanssen is also involved in the Insomnia Festival. Tromsø
Tromsø is a List of towns and cities in Norway, city in Tromsø Municipality in Troms county, Norway. The city is the administrative centre of the municipality as well as the administrative centre of Troms county. The city is located on the island of Tromsøya which sits in the Tromsøysundet strait, just off the mainland of Northern Norway. Rune Brøndbo
Rune "Sternklang" Brøndbo (born 2 March 1968 in Norway) is a Norwegian jazz musician (keyboards, guitar) and composer, known for recording with various notable bands including Wibutee and Sternklang. He is the cousin of the DDE drummer Eskil Brøndbo and vocalist Bjarne Brøndbo Career Brøndbo has made himself noticed with his band Sternklang releasing four records within a decade (1997–2006). Insomnia Festival
The Insomnia Festival is an annual electronic music festival which takes place during autumn in Tromsø, Norway. The first festival was held in 2002. Alongside the Numusic festival in Stavanger and Ekkofestival in Bergen, it is the largest and most important festival for electronic music in Norway. The name The name is taken from the sleeping disorder insomnia. The polar night and the midnight sun makes Tromsø a city were some people struggle to sleep normally, made famous in the Norwegian movie ''Insomnia'' by Tromsø director Erik Skjoldbjærg. The movie later got an American re-make, also named ''Insomnia'', starring Al Pacino and Robin Williams. Frost is a Norway, Norwegian electronic music, electronic duo consisting of Aggie Peterson and Mental Overdrive, Per Martinsen. The group formed in 1997 in Tromsø, Norway with original line-up composed of Aggie Peterson and DJ Rune Lindbæk. They released their debut album ''Bedsit Theories'' in 1998. History Frost started as a project of Aggie Peterson and DJ Rune Lindbæk. They released their debut album ''Bedsit Theories'' in 1998. The album was produced with the assistance of Torbjørn Brundtland (of the duo Röyksopp) among other people. The album did well in Norway and the single "Clouds Across the Moon" (a cover of the Rah Band song) was featured on MTV in the summer of 1998. The single "Endless Love" was released in 1999.
