Beatriz Michelena
Beatriz Michelena (February 22, 1890 – October 10, 1942) was a Venezuelan American actress and singer during the silent film era, known at the time for her operatic soprano voice and appearances in musical theatre. She was one of the few Latina stars visible on the silver screen in the United States in the 1910s. She was a leading lady in each film project she was involved in and, after the failure of California Motion Picture Company, co-founded a production company with her husband George E. Middleton, producing four of her own movies. She wrote popular articles for newspapers, including an advice column for girls, describing what it was like to be an actress, and answering questions from readers. Martha Beatriz Merino Lucero (born November 15, 1947) is a Peruvian lawyer, academic and politician who served as the first female Prime Minister of Peru, in 2003. She previously served as Senator and Congresswoman from 1990 until 2000. Following her tenure in Alejandro Toledo's cabinet, Merino was appointed by the Peruvian Congress as the national ombudswoman for Peru, serving from 2005 to 2011, a position officially known as the ''Public Defender'', being the second to hold the position. Beatriz Mansilla Marinello (also known as Beatriz MacArthur; born May 14, 1964) is a Chilean-American chess player and chess official. She was a vice president of FIDE from 2010 to 2018. Marinello was previously president of the United States Chess Federation (USCF) from 2003 to 2005 and a member of the executive board from 2003 to 2007. She was elected general secretary of the Association of Chess Professionals in 2019. Marinello started playing chess at the age of 13 and became national women's champion of Chile when she was 16 years old. In 1980, she was awarded the title Woman International Master (WIM) by FIDE. Beatriz Luengo González (born 23 December 1982) is a Spanish singer, songwriter, actress, dancer, and entrepreneur based in Miami. She gained international recognition by portraying Lola Fernández in the Antena 3 series ''One Step Forward'' (Spanish: ''Un paso adelante'') and its spin–off musical group UPA Dance. Consisting of Luengo, Pablo Puyol, Miguel Ángel Muñoz, Mónica Cruz and Silvia Marty, UPA Dance released one studio album, ''UPA Dance'', which reached number one at the Spanish Albums Chart and sold over 1.1 million units in Spain and France. Beatriz Lucero-Lhuillier, born Beatriz Lucero and more popularly known as Bea Lucero, is a Filipino former athlete and Olympian. She won a bronze medal at the 1992 Olympics in taekwondo, a demonstration sports at the Games. Lucero graduated from International School Manila in 1991. Before switching to Taekwondo, Bea was an artistic gymnast. She won 2 golds & 3 silver during the 1987 Southeast Asian Games held in Jakarta. Beatriz Jaguaribe is a professor of comparative communications in the School of Communications at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro and the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship. Jaguaribe has written on race and visual culture in contemporary Brazil. Beatriz Guido (13 December 1924 – 4 March 1988) was an Argentine novelist and screenwriter. Biography Guido was born in Rosario, Santa Fe Province, the daughter of architect Ángel Guido (renowned as the creator of the National Flag Memorial) and of Uruguayan actress Berta Eirin. She studied at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Buenos Aires. She wrote her first novel, ''La casa del ángel'', in 1954. She also wrote a short story named ''Usurpacion''. Beatriz Ghirelli de Ciaburri (30 April 1915 - 11 September 1992) was an Argentinian engineer and a pioneer of standardisation practices. Early life and education Beatriz Ghirelli was born in Buenos Aires on 30 April 1915. She graduated as a Mechanical and Electrical Engineer in 1938, the first woman to graduate in the subject from National University of La Plata, and the second woman in Argentina to earn the qualification. Career She worked at the Instituto Argentino de Normalización y Certificación (IRAM), and was appointed Director in 1953.
