Beatrix Pang
Beatrix Pang (Chinese: ''Pang Sin Kwok'' 彭倩幗) is a visual artist, cultural producer, educator and independent publisher based in Hong Kong. They have a BA in Photographic Design (2000) from School of Design, Hong Kong Polytechnic University and MA Photography (2005) from Bergen National Academy of the Arts, Norway. Work Pang primarily works in photography, video art and installation art. Pang's works have been widely exhibited locally and internationally, selected for the Asian Art Biennale (2007) at the National Museum of Fine Arts, Taichung, Taiwan and the Hong Kong Art Biennial 2005. Pang's work is included in the collections of the Macao Museum of Art. Yau Ma Tei is an area in the Yau Tsim Mong District in the south of the Kowloon Peninsula in Hong Kong. Name ''Yau Ma Tei'' is a phonetic transliteration of the name (originally written as ) in Cantonese. It can also be spelt as Yaumatei, Yau Ma Ti, Yaumati or Yau-ma-Tee. ''Yau'' (wikt:油, 油) literally means "oil", ''Ma'' (wikt:麻, 麻 or wikt:蔴, 蔴) can either refer to "sesame" or "jute", and ''Tei'' (地) means "field" or "open ground". The Starr Foundation
The Starr Foundation was established in 1955 by Cornelius Vander Starr, an insurance entrepreneur who founded C.V. Starr & Co. and other companies later combined by his successor, Maurice R. Greenberg, into what became the American International Group. Starr, a pioneer of globalization, set up his first insurance venture in Shanghai in 1919. Upon his death in 1968 his estate was passed on to the foundation. Today, it gives between US$100 million and $200 million each year to charities and causes globally.
