Beatrice Chebet
Beatrice Chebet (born 5 March 2000) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who is the current world record holder in both the women's only and mixed 5 kilometre run, in addition to the 10,000 metres. She won the gold medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics in the 5000 m and 10,000 m races, becoming the third woman in history to win both events at the same Olympic games. She is nicknamed the "smiling assassin". In 2022, Chebet won gold medals in the 5000 m at the Commonwealth Games, African Championships, and Diamond League, and a silver medal in the 5000 m at the World Championships. Chebet also won gold medals at the 2023 and 2024 World Cross Country Championships. Chebet won gold medals in the 5000 m at the 2018 IAAF World U20 Championships and the Junior women section of the 2019 World Cross Country Championships. 2022 World Athletics Championships
The 2022 World Athletics Championships was the eighteenth edition of the World Athletics Championships. It was held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, United States, from July 15–24, 2022, with the country hosting that competition for the first time. The competition was originally scheduled for August 6–15, 2021, but it was pushed back by one year due to the postponement of the 2020 Summer Olympics to 2021. After the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, World Athletics banned all Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials from participating at the championships. In addition, the stringent vaccination requirements for people entering the United States caused visa delays for participants and officials, with some ultimately being unable to enter the country. It has been a Commonwealth Games sport since the inaugural edition of the event's precursor, the 1930 British Empire Games. The 2024 Diamond League was the fifteenth season of the annual series of outdoor track and field meetings, organised by World Athletics. The competition was a revision to the top level athletics series since Diamond League foundation in 2010. The number of Diamond Discipline events was 32. The 2022 Diamond League was the thirteenth season of the Diamond League, an annual series of outdoor track and field meetings, organised by World Athletics. The Diamond League is an annual series of elite track and field athletic competitions comprising fifteen invitational athletics meetings. The 2023 World Athletics Championships (), the nineteenth edition of the World Athletics Championships, were held from 19 to 27 August 2023 at the National Athletics Centre (Budapest), National Athletics Centre, in Budapest, Hungary. Summary Everyone in this race had the opportunity to see what Olympic Champion Sifan Hassan does at the end of a race. Some of them had seen it close up. But Hassan could be beaten, she was beaten in the 10,000 metres a few days earlier and world record holder in both events, Letesenbet Gidey was the prime beneficiary.
