Beat Acelerado
"Beat Acelerado" ( Portuguese for "''Fast Beat''") is a single by Brazilian band Metrô, released in 1984 by Epic Records. The lead single for their debut studio album ''Olhar'', which would come out in the following year, it was the band's first official release under the name "Metrô" (they were known as A Gota Suspensa from their foundation in 1978 until 1984) and their first of many releases under the Epic label. The song was a huge hit, and was responsible for catapulting the band into fame. A music video for it was made in the same year. Metrô has made two re-recordings of the song during its lifespan: the first re-recording, subtitled "2nd Version", is a much shorter (only 1:11 minutes long) and slower edit of the song, and was included in ''Olhar''. The second one was made for their 2002 album '' Déjà-Vu'', and is a ''bossa nova''-inflected version of the song. Metrô is a Brazilian band formed in 1978, then known as A Gota Suspensa before renaming themselves in 1984. Beginning as a progressive rock band, they later shifted to a more synth-pop-influenced direction, becoming one of the most successful groups in the then-thriving Brazilian rock/new wave scene. Dany Roland
Daniel David Roland Pinto (born February 9, 1962), known as Dany Roland, is an Argentine-born Brazilian musician, actor, sound designer, film director and record producer, famous for being the drummer of the popular new wave band Metrô and for his collaborations with wife Bia Lessa. Biography Roland was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on February 9, 1962; his parents were Egyptian Jews of French, Italian and Portuguese descent who emigrated to Argentina from Alexandria in the late 1950s. In 1963 his family moved to São Paulo, Brazil, where after growing up he learned how to play the drums and the electric guitar, and studied Economy and Journalism at the PUC-SP, but did not finish either course. Virginie Adèle Lydie Boutaud-Manent (''née'' Boutaud; born February 27, 1963), also known mononymously as Virginie, is a French Brazilian singer, songwriter, classical guitarist, and former model and actress, famous for being the vocalist of the new wave bands Metrô and Virginie & Fruto Proibido. Biography Boutaud was born in São Paulo on February 27, 1963, to French emigrants. Angélica Ksyvickis (born 30 November 1973), known professionally by the mononym Angélica, is a Brazilian television host, actress, and former singer. A remix (or reorchestration) is a piece of media which has been altered or contorted from its original state by adding, removing, or changing pieces of the item. Bossa Nova
Bossa nova () is a style of samba developed in the late 1950s and early 1960s in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is mainly characterized by a "different beat" that altered the harmonies with the introduction of unconventional chords and an innovative syncopation of traditional samba from a single rhythmic division. The "bossa nova beat" is characteristic of a samba style and not of an autonomous genre. According to the Brazilian journalist Ruy Castro, the bossa beat – which was created by the drummer Milton Banana – was "an extreme simplification of the beat of the samba school", as if all instruments had been removed and only the tamborim had been preserved. In line with this thesis, musicians such as Baden Powell, Roberto Menescal, and Ronaldo Bôscoli also claim that this beat is related to the tamborim of the samba school. Déjà-Vu (Metrô Album)
''Déjà-Vu'' is the third and currently last studio album by Brazilian band Metrô, released in 2002 by independent label Trama. Their first album of new material in 15 years after they first broke up, it reunited them with former vocalist Virginie Boutaud, who had been fired from the band in 1986. Original guitarist Alec Haiat decided not to partake in the band's reunion though due to his involvement with other projects at the time and other personal reasons, and so was replaced by André Fonseca. Xavier Leblanc, who was also very busy with his then-newly founded French bistro, La Tartine, only acted as a session member on the tracks "Achei Bonito" and "Johnny Love", being subsequently replaced by Pedro Albuquerque until the band separated again in 2004. A Gota Suspensa
''A Gota Suspensa'' ( Portuguese for "''The Suspended Drop''") is the only release by A Gota Suspensa, a Brazilian experimental/progressive rock band formed in São Paulo in 1978 and which would acquire bigger fame after changing its name to Metrô in 1984. As such, it comprised Virginie Boutaud on vocals, Alec Haiat on guitars, Yann Laouenan on keyboards, Xavier Leblanc on bass and Daniel "Dany" Roland on drums, plus saxophonist Marcel Zimberg, who left the band after they changed their name and musical direction. (Leblanc was busy studying during the album's recording sessions though, and for that was replaced by Tavinho Fialho.)
