Carl Beam
Carl Beam (May 24, 1943 – July 30, 2005), born Carl Edward Migwans, was an Indigenous Canadian multi-media artist whose career confronted Canada's colonial legacy through innovate means of creativity. His work engaged with the contemporary issues and experiences of the Indigenous peoples of Turtle Island. Beam made Canadian art history as the first artist of Indigenous Ancestry (Ojibwe), to have his work purchased by the National Gallery of Canada as Contemporary Art. A major retrospective of his work was organized by the National Gallery of Canada in 2010. He worked in various photographic mediums, mixed media, oil, acrylic, spontaneously scripted text on canvas, works on paper, Plexiglas, stone, cement, wood, handmade ceramic pottery, and found objects, in addition to etching, lithography, and screen process. Tyshane Thompson (born 1995), known professionally as Beam (an acronym for Be Everything and More; stylised in all caps; formerly as Tyshane and Elite), is a Jamaican-born American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is the son of dancehall and gospel reggae singer Papa San. He was one-half of the production duo 808&Elite. Beam released his debut studio album, '' Alien'', on February 4, 2022. Beam, Great Torrington
Beam is an historic estate in the parish of Great Torrington, Devon, England. Beam House is situated about 1 1/2 miles north-west and downstream of that town, on the right-bank of the River Torridge. Both the Rolle Canal and the railway crossed the river nearby. It occupies a particularly beautiful setting, described by Lauder (1986) thus: ''"For lovers of rivers and woodland there can be few lovlier settings for a house than this. Steeply wooded banks shelter the valley and the house is situated on slightly higher ground above lush water meadows, almost completely surrounded by the Torridge"'' The estate was a subsidiary seat of the Baron Rolle, Rolle family, lords of the manor of Great Torrington, whose main seat was Stevenstone on the other (south) side of that town and therefore upstream from Beam. Krome Studios Melbourne, originally Beam Software, was an Australian video game development studio founded in 1980 by Alfred Milgrom and Naomi Besen and based in Melbourne, Australia. Initially formed to produce books and software to be published by Melbourne House, a company they had established in London in 1977, the studio operated independently from 1987 until 1999, when it was acquired by Infogrames, who changed the name to Infogrames Melbourne House Pty Ltd.. Beam (horse)
Beam (1924 – 1941) was a British Thoroughbred racehorse and Horse breeding#Terminology, broodmare. As a juvenile she showed promise by winning one race and finishing third in the Molecomb Stakes. In the following year she finished fourth in the 1000 Guineas and won the Haverhill Stakes before beating a strong field to take the Epsom Oaks in a race record time which stood for more than half a century. She was retired from racing at the end of the season. Beam made no impact as a dam of winners and died in 1941 at the age of seventeen. Background Beam was a bay mare bred in the United Kingdom by her owner John Lambton, 3rd Earl of Durham. She was sent into training with Frank Butters at his Fitzroy House stable in Newmarket, Suffolk. She was ridden in most of her races by Tommy Weston (jockey), Tommy Weston. Anong Beam is an Ojibwe artist and curator from M'Chigeeng First Nation, Ontario. Early life and education Born Anong Migwans Beam, Beam is the daughter of award winning Indigenous artist Carl Beam and feminist artist Ann Elena Weatherby. In 1998 Beam attended the visual arts program School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. This was followed by Beam attending the Ontario College of Art and Design from 1999-2000 and the Institute of American Indian Arts in 2001. Beam is currently a Masters student at York University. Mixer was an American video game live streaming platform. The service launched on January 5, 2016, as Beam, under the ownership of co-founders Matthew Salsamendi and James Boehm. The service placed an emphasis on interactivity, with low stream latency and a platform for allowing viewers to perform actions that can influence a stream. The service was acquired by Microsoft in August 2016, after which it was renamed Mixer in 2017 and integrated into Microsoft's Xbox division (including top-level integration on Xbox One). In 2019, Mixer gained attention when it signed two top streamers from its main competitor, Twitch—Ninja and Shroud—to a contract with the service. In computer science, beam search is a heuristic search algorithm that explores a graph by expanding the most promising node in a limited set. Beam search is a modification of best-first search that reduces its memory requirements. Best-first search is a graph search which orders all partial solutions (states) according to some heuristic. But in beam search, only a predetermined number of best partial solutions are kept as candidates. It is thus a greedy algorithm. Details Beam search uses breadth-first search to build its search tree. At each level of the tree, it generates all successors of the states at the current level, sorting them in increasing order of heuristic cost.
