Beaconsfield Eagles Football Club
The Beaconsfield Football Club, nicknamed the ''Eagles'' or less formally the ''Beacy'' is an Australian rules football club in the Outer East Football Netball League (OEFNL) It is based at Holm Park in the southern-eastern Melbourne suburb of Beaconsfield, Victoria. History Formed after a public meeting on the 21 April 1890, at Gissing’s Gippsland Hotel, Beaconsfield (now the Central Hotel), it was agreed to form a football club. A team representing the Town of Beaconsfield played a number of ''friendly'' matches that year. Their first game was against Cranbourne in which they lost. Beaconsfield then went onto play Berwick and Pakenham, and lost every game. Despite initial enthusiasm the club rarely participated in any organised competitions until after WWII. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Beaconsfield ( Boonwurrung: ''Kemgrim'') is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Casey and the Shire of Cardinia local government areas. Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League
The Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League (abbreviated "MPNFL") is an Australian rules football competition, governed by the AFL South East. The MPNFL contains teams near the south eastern region of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. At the end of the 2017 season, the competition was restructured from a geographical to a divisional structure, with promotion/ relegation. It contains two divisions with 22 teams in all, 10 in Division 1 and 12 in Division 2. History The league was formed in 1987 upon the merger of the Mornington Peninsula FL and the Nepean FL. The South East Football Netball League was an Australian rules football competition, containing teams near the south eastern region of Victoria, Australia. The 8 teams were all part of the Casey Cardinia division of the Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League (''MPNFL'') but this competition broke away to form a new league in 2015. Austinn Gregg "Aussie" Jones (born 28 September 1976) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with St Kilda in the Australian Football League (AFL). The 176 cm Jones played for the Collingwood reserves in the mid-1990s, but they were afraid to recruit him due to him weighing just 64 kilograms. "Aussie", as he is more commonly known, refused to give up on his dream to play AFL football, and was recruited to St Kilda in the 1994 AFL Draft. Christopher Newman (born 18 May 1982) is the coach of the Box Hill Hawks in the Victorian Football League and a former player with the Richmond Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was drafted at pick 55 in the 2000 national draft from the Dandenong Stingrays in the TAC Cup. Brendan Fevola (born 20 January 1981) is a former professional Australian rules footballer. He played with the Carlton and Brisbane Lions football clubs in the Australian Football League (AFL). Shane Tuck (24 December 198120 July 2020) was an Australian rules footballer who played 173 matches for the Richmond Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL) after also spending two years on the AFL list at Hawthorn without making an AFL appearance. Jake Aarts (born 8 December 1994) is a professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Richmond Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Cody Weightman (born 15 January 2001) is an Australian rules footballer who plays for the Western Bulldogs in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was recruited by the Western Bulldogs with the 15th draft pick in the 2019 AFL draft. Early life Weightman was born in Melbourne and grew up on a farm in Pakenham.
