Be Small
''Be Small'' is the fourth full-length studio album from the indie rock band Here We Go Magic and was released by Secretly Canadian on October 16, 2015. Drawing inspiration from Brian Eno and John Cale's ''Wrong Way Up'', as well as Robert Wyatt's ''Shleep'', singer-songwriter Luke Temple began recording before enlisting the help of bandmate Michael Bloch. The two were then assisted by drummer Austin Vaughn and bassist Brian Betancourt, who helped to complete the record. Track listing Reception Critical reception for ''Be Small'' has been positive and the album holds a rating of 80 on Metacritic, based on 9 reviews. AllMusic rated the album at four stars, praising it as being "loaded with simply good, interesting songs." ''NME'' also gave a favorable review and awarded ''Be Small'' four out of five stars. Here We Go Magic is an American indie rock band based in Brooklyn, New York. It was formed by core members Luke Temple, Michael Bloch and Peter Hale, in late 2008. Indie Rock
Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". Secretly Canadian is an American independent record label based in Bloomington, Indiana, with offices in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Austin, London, Paris, Amsterdam, and Berlin. Secretly Canadian is a label included in Secretly Group, which also includes Dead Oceans and Jagjaguwar. Secretly Group includes the three record labels as well as a music publisher known as Secretly Publishing, representing artists, writers, film makers, producers, and comedians. A Different Ship
''A Different Ship'' is the third album from American indie rock band Here We Go Magic, released by Secretly Canadian in May 2012. As he did on the band's first two albums (''Here We Go Magic'' and '' Pigeons''), Luke Temple filled the dual role of singer and songwriter. The band also teamed with producer Nigel Godrich (Radiohead Radiohead are an English rock band formed in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, in 1985. Brian Peter George St John le Baptiste de la Salle Eno (; born Brian Peter George Eno, 15 May 1948) is a British musician, composer, record producer and visual artist best known for his contributions to ambient music and work in rock, pop and electronica. John Cale
John Davies Cale (born 9 March 1942) is a Welsh musician, composer, singer, songwriter and record producer who was a founding member of the American rock band the Velvet Underground. Over his six-decade career, Cale has worked in various styles across rock, drone, classical, avant-garde and electronic music. He studied music at Goldsmiths College, University of London, before relocating in 1963 to New York City's downtown music scene, where he performed as part of the Theatre of Eternal Music and formed the Velvet Underground. Wrong Way Up
''Wrong Way Up'' is a 1990 album by Brian Eno and John Cale. The album sits between the electronic, prog-rock and art rock genres and features some of both Eno and Cale's most mainstream work. The cover was conceived by Eno. The 2005 re-release on All Saints Records was remastered and had a different cover, but reverted to the original in 2020. It contains two bonus tracks, "Grandfather's House" and ″You Don't Miss Your Water″ by Eno. Both titles only appeared on single or EP before; the latter was taken from the 1988 OST album ''Married to the Mob''. Reception ''Trouser Press'' praised the album, calling it "an absolutely wonderful pop record, a subversion of Top 40 formulae to the pair's own idiosyncratic (but utterly accessible) ends." Robert Wyatt
Robert Wyatt (born Robert Wyatt-Ellidge, 28 January 1945) is a retired English musician. A founding member of the influential Canterbury scene bands Soft Machine and Matching Mole, he was initially a kit drummer and singer before becoming paraplegic following an accidental fall from a window in 1973, which led him to abandon band work, explore other instruments, and begin a forty-year solo career. A key player during the formative years of British jazz fusion, psychedelia and progressive rock, Wyatt's own work became increasingly interpretative, collaborative and politicised from the mid-1970s onwards. His solo music has covered a particularly individual musical terrain ranging from covers of pop singles to shifting, amorphous song collections drawing on elements of jazz, folk and nursery rhyme. Luke Temple
Luke Temple, also known under the alias Art Feynman, is an American singer-songwriter. He records under his own name and with New York-based band Here We Go Magic. Temple was born in Salem, Massachusetts. After spending time in Northern California, he studied painting at Boston's Museum of Fine Arts. After struggling to make a living as a visual artist, including painting murals in upscale New York City apartments, Temple moved into songwriting and recording. After recording a four song EP himself on a four-track recorder, Temple was signed to Mill Pond Records of Seattle. He would go on to record two full-length albums with Mill Pond, ''Hold a Match for a Gasoline World'' (2005) and ''Snow Beast'' (2007), before signing with label Secretly Canadian in 2010 for ''Good Mood Fool''.
