Baze University
Baze University is a private tertiary institution established in 2011 and located in Abuja, Nigeria. History and governance The university was established in 2011 and received its provisional license from the National Universities Commission (NUC) on 7 March of the same year. Academic activities commenced with staff and 17 students all in one building on the site of its 50,000 sqm campus. Construction of the Administrative Block, the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Computing and Applied Sciences, Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Environmental Sciences and the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences soon followed. In 2021, construction of the University Teaching Hospital commenced and was expected to be completed in the same year. Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed
Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed (; born 7 July 1969) is a Nigerian politician, economist, and educational investor. He is the founder of Baze University and a former senator representing the Kaduna North Senatorial District in 2011. He also represented Zaria in the House of Representatives from 2003 to 2007. A member of the Labour Party, Baba-Ahmed was the vice-presidential candidate in the 2023 Nigerian presidential election, alongside Peter Obi. Kathleen Ebelechukwu Okafor is a Nigerian professor of property and commercial law and the acting Vice Chancellor of Baze University. Early life and background Kathleen obtained Her O'Level exams at Queens School Enugu and got her LL.B degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1974. National Universities Commission
The National Universities Commission (NUC) is a Nigerian government agency set up to regulate higher education in Nigeria. NUC, as it is popularly called, was established in 1962 as an advisory agency in the cabinet office. In 1974, it became a statutory body and its first executive secretary was professor Jibril Aminu. NUC is currently part of the Federal Ministry of Education and is a parastatal (government-owned corporation).
