Bayreuth Hauptbahnhof
Bayreuth Hauptbahnhof is the main railway station in the German town of Bayreuth, in northern Bavaria. Overview Railway lines run north to Neuenmarkt-Wirsberg, and from there to Bamberg and over the Schiefe Ebene to Hof, east to Weidenberg, southeast to Weiden and south to Schnabelwaid with connections to Nuremberg on the Pegnitz Valley Railway. The lines around Bayreuth are all single-tracked and non-electrified. Train services Due to the fact that all four railway lines are single-track and non-electrified, Bayreuth is currently only served by regional rail services. From December 2007 until December 2013, the Franken-Sachsen-Express provided a direct connection from Nuremberg to Dresden. The technology used for this was the Class 612 diesel multiple set. After the electrification of the railway between Plauen and Hof in 2013, the Franken-Sachsen-Express required a transfer in Hof and had a longer travel time due to the use of non-tilting electric trains. Franken-Sachsen-Express
Saxon-Franconian trunk line () is a modern term for a double-track railway route between the German cities of Dresden and Nuremberg. It is 390 kilometres long and currently electrified from Dresden to Hof. The concept of the Saxon-Franconian trunk route was developed in the transport policy debate in the 1990s during consideration of direct rail services connecting Dresden and Görlitz with Karlsruhe and Oberstdorf. The term is not traditionally used in relation to the railway lines now described by it. Route The route runs from Dresden to the southwest through the Saxon Uplands, running from Dresden to Zwickau parallel with the Ore Mountains. Between Plauen and Hof it passes through the Vogtland. Saalfeld
Saalfeld () is a town in Germany, capital of the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district of Thuringia. It is best known internationally as the ancestral seat of the Saxe-Coburg and Gotha branch of the Saxon House of Wettin. Marktredwitz station is the station of the major district town of Marktredwitz in the Bavarian administrative region of Upper Franconia. Two main lines, the Nuremberg–Cheb railway and the Weiden–Oberkotzau railway, cross at the station. Hof Hauptbahnhof (German for ''Hof main station''; sometimes translated as "Hof Central Station" or described as "Hof central station" in English) is the main railway station in Hof in southern Germany and is situated at the intersection of the Saxon-Franconian trunk line (''Magistrale'') and the Munich–Regensburg–Leipzig–Berlin line.
