Baylen Leonard
Baylen Leonard (born 12 June 1973) is an American British radio and TV broadcaster specialising in country music. He started his radio career at BBC London in 2001 after moving in 2000 from New York City. While working at the BBC, Leonard recalls he always wanted to broadcast country music. “If it was a bank holiday and everybody else was away, they’d let me do a country show, which helped them cotton on to the fact that country music was a thing, so I started doing that more on Radio 2 with Bob Harris and then moved into commercial radio when Absolute and Bauer launched their commercial radio country station.” Leonard has since worked for BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 5 Live, Amazing Radio, Monocle 24, Country Hits Radio, and others. BBC Radio 2 Country
BBC Radio 2 Country was a pop-up DAB service from the BBC which launched at 12:00 on Thursday 5 March 2015. The station covered the Country2Country Festival and was on air for the festival's duration. On its debut, the station broadcast for twelve hours each day until Sunday 8 March 2015. It was relaunched for the 2016 festival, held between 10 March 2016 and 13 March 2016, and again from 9 March 2017 to 12 March 2017. The station did not return after the 2017 festival and has not returned since. BBC Radio 4 is a British national radio station owned and operated by the BBC. The station replaced the BBC Home Service on 30 September 1967 and broadcasts a wide variety of spoken-word programmes from the BBC's headquarters at Broadcasting House, London. Since 2019, the station controller has been Mohit Bakaya. He replaced Gwyneth Williams, who had been the station controller since 2010. Bob Harris (radio Presenter)
Robert Brinley Joseph Harris (born 11 April 1946), popularly known as "Whispering Bob" Harris, is an English music presenter. He was a host of the BBC2 music programme ''The Old Grey Whistle Test'' from 1972 to 1979, and was a co-founder of the listings magazine '' Time Out'', co-editing until the early part of 1969. He has presented ''The Country Show'' on BBC Radio 2 on Thursday nights since April 1999, and '' Sounds of the 70s'' on Sunday afternoons since November 2024, replacing Johnnie Walker. Harris has been broadcasting on the BBC for 50 years and has been recognised with the Americana Music Association of America Trailblazer Award, a UK Heritage Award and a MOJO Medal, as well as his OBE for services to broadcasting. Danny Baker
Danny Baker (born 22 June 1957) is an English comedy writer, journalist, radio DJ and screenwriter. Throughout his career he has largely presented for London's regional radio and television. Baker was born in Deptford to a working-class family and raised in Bermondsey. From 1977 he wrote for the punk zine '' Sniffin' Glue'', and from there was hired by the ''New Musical Express'', where he worked as a writer, reviewer, and interviewer. Moving into television in 1980, he began presenting London Weekend Television's ''Twentieth Century Box'' and reporting for '' The Six O'Clock Show''. In 1989 he began radio presenting for BBC Radio London and in 1990 joined the newly established BBC Radio 5. In 1997 he was dismissed from the latter, accused of inciting threatening behaviour toward a football referee. That decade, he also began writing for television. The Lady (magazine)
''The Lady'' was a British women's magazine. It published its first issue on 19 February 1885, and its last in April 2025, at which time it was the longest-running women's magazine in Britain. Based in London, it included classified advertisements for domestic service and child care and had extensive listings of holiday properties. History The magazine was founded by Thomas Gibson Bowles (1842 – 1922), the maternal grandfather of the aristocratic and eccentric Mitford sisters. Bowles also founded the English magazine '' Vanity Fair''. The first issue of ''The Lady'', dated 19 February 1885, bore the subtitle "A Journal for Gentlewomen" and had advertisements for "fashionable bonnets", linen and silk fabrics, "iced savoy moulds" and sheet music for dances and for songs "for ladies voices".
