Bayanzürkh Uul
Bayanzürkh ( ; ) is one of nine districts of the Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar. It is subdivided into 20 subdistricts. It is the largest district in the capital and lies in the southeast of the city. It was established in 1965. In 2023 it had an approximate population of 420,793 people in 131,902 households. A total of 23 state kindergartens and 19 secondary schools are located in the district area. Bayanzürkh is located in the east, at the foot of one of the four mountains of Ulaanbaatar, the Bayanzürkh Uul. Düüreg Of Mongolia
Ulaanbaatar is divided into nine düüregs or municipal districts: Baganuur, Bagakhangai, Bayangol, Ulaanbaatar, Bayangol, Bayanzürkh, Chingeltei, Khan Uul, Nalaikh, Songino Khairkhan and Sükhbaatar (district), Sükhbaatar. Each district is subdivided into khoroos, of which there are 204. Each düüreg also serves as a constituency that elects one or more representatives into the State Great Khural, the national parliament. Unur Bul Child Center
The Unur Bul Child Center () is an orphanage in Bayanzürkh, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. History The center was established on 27 December 1974 when kindergarten class affiliated with the orphanage merged with Kindergarten No. 58 of Ulaanbaatar City to form the orphanage. During the center's 50th anniversary, President Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh donated some equipment and furniture to the center. On 6 June 2018, the Government of Mongolia approved a donation funding of MNT100 million for the center. Architecture The center also includes other facilities such as library, hospital and psychology services. Occupants The center caters for children which are homeless, from the street, with mental disorders and those whose parents are deprived from their parental rights. As of 2018, there were a total of 185 children living in the center. Shirnengiin Ayuush
Shirnengiin Ayuush (; 1903–1938) was a Mongolian composer, novelist and art historian, one of the leading composers of Mongolia in the 1930s. He was born in Bayanzürkh, near the capital of Ulaanbaatar. He graduated from the Institute of Oriental Studies in Moscow in 1924, and was employed by the government in the 1930s, becoming artistic director of the Ministry of the People in 1934, and the Vice Minister of the Ministry from 1936. He is best known for composing operas which incorporated traditional folk melodies such as ''Arat Damdin and Princess Dolgor''. J. F. Conceicao describes ''Arat Damdin and Princess Dolgor'' as the "next experiment of the musical theatre", which dealt with "topical problems of that time". He was awarded for his services to Mongolian literature in 1935. Saints Peter And Paul Cathedral (Ulaanbaatar)
The Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Bayanzürkh, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, designed by Serbs, Serbian architect Predrag Stupar and consecrated in 2003 by Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe; its shape resembles that of a yurt. It is the official episcopal see of the Apostolic Prefecture of Ulaanbaatar. Building It has 36 semicircular windows and a window in the skylight. They were added by 2005, and were part of a project of Brother Mark, a member of the Taizé Community. The windows depict the four evangelists in their symbolic forms: an eagle, an angel, a yak and a snow leopard. The latter two are the local reinterpretations of traditional Christian iconography, which replace the traditional winged bull and a winged lion. National Garden Park (Ulaanbaatar)
The National Garden Park () is a park in Bayanzürkh, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. It is the largest park in the city. History The planning to established the park started with the decision of the Capital City Citizens' Representatives' Meeting and Decree No. 230 of 2009 issued by the Capital Governor and the mayor of Ulaanbaatar. The park was then established in 2009. On 12 October 2019, around 1,500 trees were planted at the park. The event was attended by Parliament Speaker Gombojavyn Zandanshatar. In 2016, the park was designed as a local property budgetary enterprise under the administration of the Assembly of Citizen's Representatives. On 21 May 2020, the Garden of Friendship was established at the park to commemorate 60th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Cuba. Narantuul Market
The Narantuul Market () or the Black Market is a marketplace in Bayanzürkh District, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. It is the largest outdoor market in the country. History The market was established in 1993. It moved to its current site in 1999. In January 2013, it was reported that Narantuul Market was under investigation due to alleged irregularities in its land license. The market, owned by politician Saikhansambuu Shinensambuu, was reportedly granted a 25-year public service land license, despite city regulations limiting such licenses to five years. While authorities deemed the extended license illegal, the Ulaanbaatar City Administration was reluctant to revoke it, citing the livelihoods of thousands of vendors dependent on the market. Manjusri Monastery
Manjushri Monastery () is a former gompa established in 1733 and destroyed by Mongolian communists in 1937. Its ruins are located in Bayanzürkh, Ulaanbaatar, on the south slope of Bogd Khan Mountain. Its architecture contained Chinese, Mongol and Tibetan influences.
