Bayan Area
Bayan () is a residential area and district in the Hawalli Governorate of Kuwait, consisting of 13 blocks, and situated approximately 15 kilometres away from the core areas of Kuwait City. Its naming was inspired by the fact that it is in an area of higher altitude in comparison to its surrounding Mishref, Salwa, and Rumaithiya. The Kuwaiti Government headquarters are located in Bayan Palace which houses its own mosque and gardens within its walls. Beside it, the main skyline feature one group of Kuwait Water Towers (known for their white-and-blue vertical stripes and long mushroom form), as nine of them are arranged in a diamond shape. Its area is 4,300,000 m2. Areas Of Kuwait
Kuwait is divided into Governorates of Kuwait, six governorates, and in each there are several areas (). They are much less commonly called by other names such as districts or towns. However, they are commonly known inside the English-speaking community in Kuwait and are officially translated to as ''areas''. The Arabic word for area, Mintaqah, means both ''area'' and ''region''. Areas are further sub-divided into blocks, each of which is referred by a number. All blocks are divided into streets () . Then some areas may be further sub-divided into () , which is translated to avenue or lane. Each area in Kuwait has an official governmental facility called a co-op society or just society (). They are mainly supermarkets that provide foods and products and they take part in maintaining some of the areas landmarks, but they're not legally obliged to. Rumaithiya (, Gulf Arabic: ''l-irmēθīya'') is a mainly-residential area in Hawalli governorate and a suburb of Kuwait City. It is divided into twelve blocks. Kuwait Water Towers
The Kuwait Water Towers are a prominent group of 31 water towers in Kuwait City, Kuwait that were completed in 1976. Design and construction In 1965, the government of Kuwait commissioned the Swedish engineering company of VBB (since 1997 Sweco) to develop and implement a plan for a modern water-supply system for Kuwait City. The company built five groups of water towers, 31 in total, designed by its chief architect Sune Lindström, called "the mushroom towers". They were built by VBB out of standard reinforced concrete. Each tower holds 3,000 cubic meters of water. The tower groups are distinguished by number, height, color and ornamentation and they serve as landmarks for their districts.
