Bay Stars F.C.
Bay Stars was a semi-professional South African association football, football (soccer) club based in the city of Port Elizabeth that played in the SAFA Second Division. The club was set up in 2011, after purchasing the SAFA Second Division franchise of Bay Academy. Bay Academy's parent club, Bay United F.C., Bay United, had been sold and moved to Polokwane, leaving Port Elizabeth without a professional football club. The club spent both years of its existence in the third tier of South African football. During the 2011–12 season, the league was known as the Vodacom League, during the 2012–13 season, it was known as the SAFA Second Division. Following the 2012–13 season, the club's Second Division franchise was sold, and became Morning Stars. SAFA Second Division
The ABC Motsepe League, previously known as the Vodacom League between 1998 and 2012, was founded in 1998 as the current Second Division and the overall third tier of South African football. The competition is regulated by SAFA, and until 2012 had been sponsored by mobile telecommunications company Vodacom. It features 144 teams in total, divided into 9 divisions, borders decided by the 9 geo-political provinces of South Africa: Eastern Cape, Free State, KwaZulu Natal, Northern Cape, Western Cape, Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and North West. Each provincial division contains 16 teams. The winner of each provincial division qualifies for the annual promotional playoffs, where the winners of two streams are promoted to the National First Division. Mark Simon Harrison (born 11 December 1960) is an English professional football manager and former player. He kept goal in the English Football League for Port Vale and Stoke City, and also played non-League football for Hellenic, Kettering Town, Stafford Rangers, and Telford United. The Nedbank Cup is the current name of South Africa's premier club soccer knockout tournament. While many formats have been used over the years, the tournament has always been based on the idea of giving lower league and amateur teams a chance to compete with clubs from the top league for the cup. The tournament is based on the English FA Cup, which has become known for "giant killings" (lower league clubs defeating a top-flight club).
