Baum Circle
The Baum Circle refers to the group of artists either taught by, associated with, or directly influenced by Pennsylvania impressionist painter Walter Emerson Baum. Most of these individuals lived, worked and painted in the Lehigh Valley region of eastern Pennsylvania, particularly in Lehigh and Northampton counties, and many studied under Baum, or taught, at the Baum School of Art in Allentown. In October 2006, the David E. Rodale Gallery at the Baum School of Art held an exhibition celebrating the work of this group. __NOTOC__ Arlington Nelson Lindenmuth (also A.N. Lindenmuth) (1856 —1950) was an American landscape and portrait painter who lived and painted in Allentown, Pennsylvania and the Lehigh Valley region of the United States. He was a member of the Baum Circle, the group of artists either taught by, associated with, or directly influenced by Pennsylvania impressionist painter Walter Emerson Baum. Life Lindenmuth was also one of the earliest professional photographers in the Lehigh Valley,Hutson-Saxon, p. 208. and for many decades he owned and operated a successful photography studio, located on Sixth Street in Allentown, directly across the street from the Lyric Theatre. Giovanni Martino or Giovanni Martini, also known as John Martin (1852 – 24 December 1922) was an Italian-American soldier and trumpeter. He served both in Italy with Giuseppe Garibaldi and in the United States Army, famously in the 7th Cavalry Regiment under George Armstrong Custer, where he became known as the only survivor from Custer's company at the Battle of the Little Bighorn. Antonio Martino (22 December 1942 – 5 March 2022) was an Italian politician. A founding member of Forza Italia, he served as the minister of foreign affairs in 1994 and minister of defense from 2001 to 2006. Life and career Born in Messina, he was the son of Gaetano Martino (1900–1967), the Foreign Minister of Italy from 1954 to 1957 and prominent member of the Italian Liberal Party (PLI).
