''Battles in the Shadow'' () is a 1938 Italian spy thriller film directed by Domenico Gambino and starring Antonio Centa, Dria Paola and Paola Barbara.Curti p.33 It was shot at the Cinecittà Studios in Rome. The film's sets were designed by the art director Giorgio Pinzauti. Synopsis A group of foreign agents steal a formula for a new explosive, then kidnap the scientist's secretary to try and force her to decode the blueprints. Domenico Gambino
Domenico Gambino (17 May 1890 – 17 April 1968) was an Italian actor, screenwriter and film director. Gambino played Saetta, one of the rival strongman heroes to Maciste. Saetta had his own series of films during the early 1920s.
