Battle Of Ba Ria
The Battle of Bà Rịa took place from January 31 to February 7, 1968 in Phước Tuy province, South Vietnam. It occurred as part of the Tet Offensive, with large formations of Viet Cong troops attacking allied forces consisting of South Vietnamese, Australian and American troops. The Australians engaged in the heaviest street fighting seen by any of their units during the war, and the attack was defeated with heavy casualties inflicted on the VC. Nui Dat
Nui Dat (Núi Đất) is the former military base of the 1st Australian Task Force (1 ATF) now part of Ba Ria city in Ba Ria–Vung Tau province, Vietnam. It is not the name of an official ward, it just means "land hill" or "soil hill" (:wikt:núi, núi :wikt:đất, đất). Nùng People
The Nùng (''pronounced as noong'' Help:IPA, [nuːŋ]) are a Central Tai languages, Central Tai-speaking ethnic group living primarily in northeastern Vietnam and southwestern Guangxi. The Nùng sometimes call themselves Thổ, which literally means ''wikt:autochthonous, autochthonous'' (indigenous or native to the land). D445 Battalion
The 445th Battalion (D445 for short), also known as the D445 Provincial Mobile Battalion or the Ba Ria Battalion, was a local force battalion of the Viet Cong (VC) during the Vietnam War. History The battalion operated in the Dong Nai river basin and also the Bien Hoa, Phuoc Tuy and Long Khanh provinces. It recruited principally from Dat Do, Long Dien and Hoa Long.McNeill and Ekins 2003, p. 48. The battalion was formed on 19 May 1965.
