Brasserie Battin, is a Beer in Luxembourg, Luxembourgish brewery founded by Charles Battin in 1937 in the city of Esch-Alzette. Since 2004 Brasserie Nationale owns Brasserie Battin; since 2005 the beer brand Battin is brewed in Bascharage. History In 1937 Charles Battin founded Brasserie Battin in Esch-Alzette to supply the important local market in southern Luxembourg, Steel industry in Luxembourg, due to the steel industry. Although being the smallest and youngest of all luxembourgish breweries, Battin was quickly successful, also thanks to the talent of its first brewermaster, Kurt Mocker. Nicolas Origer, the husband of Charles Battin's daughter, took over the management from 1954 to 1962 before handing over to his own sons, Mark and Paul Origer. Skip Battin
Clyde "Skip" Battin (February 18, 1934 – July 6, 2003) was an American singer-songwriter, bassist, performer, and recording artist. He was a member of the Byrds, the New Riders of the Purple Sage, and the Flying Burrito Brothers. Εarly life Clyde Raybould Battin was born in Gallipolis, Ohio, USA, attending local schools. He discovered the electric bass when he was 17 years old. Two years later, he moved to Tucson to attend physical education classes at the University of Arizona. With fellow student Gary Paxton, he formed a college band, the Pledges. As Gary and Clyde, they recorded the single "Why Not Confess" (with "Johnny Risk" on the flipside) for Rev Records, a local label. In 1959, they went into the Desert Palm Studios in Phoenix, Arizona, the home of guitarist Duane Eddy, and recorded some Paxton compositions. Joe Battin
Joseph V. Battin (November 11, 1853 – December 10, 1937) was a 19th-century Major League Baseball player. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Battin played major league baseball from 1871 to 1884 and then returned for one season in 1890, after several years in various minor leagues. Battin primarily played at second base and third base, although he occasionally filled in at other roles as well. His best year was in 1876 for the St. Louis Brown Stockings, when he batted .300 and scored 34 runs. Battin briefly served as manager for two different teams; the Pittsburgh Alleghenys of the American Association in 1883 (2–11 record) and 1884 (6–7 record), and the Chicago Browns/Pittsburgh Stogies of the Union Association in 1884 (1–5 record). In 1936, the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum listed Battin on the ballot. He received one vote. Battin died at the age of 84 in Akron, Ohio, where he was buried at the Glendale Cemetery. James Franklin Battin (born July 28, 1962) is a former California State Senator for District 37, which includes much of Riverside County in the inland part of Southern California. Prior to serving in the State Senate, Battin served in the California State Assembly from 1994 until 2000. Battin was term limited from the Senate in 2008. Early years Battin was born and raised in Billings, Montana. He gained appreciation and respect for nature and the wilderness during his childhood in Montana. Bradley William Battin (born 12 December 1975) is an Australian politician who has served as the leader of the Victorian Liberal Party since 27 December 2024, and as member for Berwick in the Victorian Legislative Assembly since 2022. He was previously the member for Gembrook from 2010 until the seat was abolished in 2022 following the 2021 redistribution. He was formerly a police officer and owned a bakery in Wheelers Hill. Richard "Dick" Horace Battin (March 3, 1925 – February 8, 2014) was an American engineer, applied mathematician and educator who led the design of the Apollo guidance computer during the Apollo missions during the 1960s. Battin was born on March 3, 1925, in Atlantic City, New Jersey to Martha Scheu and Horace L. Battin. Battin began his career in 1951, serving as the assistant director of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's (MIT) Instrumentation Laboratory. Battin left the laboratory in 1956, becoming a senior staff member at Arthur Little Inc., but returned to MIT's Instrumentation Laboratory in 1958. He subsequently became the technical director of the Apollo Mission Development program, as well as associate director of the laboratory. Under Battin's leadership, his team created the analytic and software design of the navigation, guidance and control systems for each of the Apollo spaceflights, making the lunar landing of Apollo 11 possible.
