Battagram Tehsil
Battagram Tehsil is an administrative subdivision (Tehsil) of the Battagram District in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. It serves as the Tehsil headquarters and covers a total area of 300 square miles (780 km2). Battagram Tehsil merged into Pakistan as an administrative region before being raised to the status of a district in 1993. On October 8, 2005, a 7.6 magnitude earthquake in Kashmir badly affected the area. Overview and history Battagram Tehsil is surrounded by Allai, Shangla, and Kohistan to the north and the east, and by the Kaghan Valley and Mansehra to the west. It is separated from Allai by a range of mountains rising to over , and from Mansehra by another range running from the Afghanistan border to the Indus above Thakot. Battagram District
Battagram ( ps, بټګرام ولسوالۍ, ur, ) is a district in Abaseen Division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan. The headquarter is Battagram, which is about 75-km from Mansehra. Overview and history The district of Battagram is located at the latitude of 34.41 and longitude 73.1. It is surrounded by Kohistan District to the north, Mansehra District to the east, Kala Dhaka (now Torghar District) to the south and Shangla District to the west. It has a total land area of 1301 square kilometres. Battagram obtained the status of district in July 1993 when it was upgraded from a Tehsil and separated from Mansehra District. Demographics At the time of the 2017 census the district had a population of 476,749, of which 238,402 were males and 238,312 females. The entire population was rural. It is affiliated with Hazara University for its degree programs while for its intermediate level programs, it is affiliated with Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Abbottabad. Thakot or Takot ( ur, ; ps, ) is a tribal town on the Indus River in Battagram District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. It is also one of twenty Union Councils of Battagram District, and one of twelve in Battagram Tehsil. Thakot is located midway between Battagram town in the south and Besham town (Shangla District) in the north, at a distance of about 30 km from both.
