Batrachyla Nibaldoi
''Batrachyla nibaldoi'' is a species of frog in the family Batrachylidae. It is endemic to Chile and known from the Los Lagos and Aysén Regions between Villa O'Higgins in the south and Kent and Melchor Islands in the north; there is a record from Alao Island further north but this might represent ''Batrachyla taeniata''. The specific name ''nibaldoi'' honors , Chilean marine biologist, in recognition of his "remarkable contribution to the development of the zoology in Chile". Common name Nibaldo's wood frog has been coined for it. Description Adult females measure in snout–vent length; male length is not reported. The snout is rounded in dorsal view and sloping in lateral profile. The tympanum is visible; the supra-tympanic fold is evident. The fingers and toes are slender and have moderately pointed tips. The fingers have no webbing whereas the toes have thin, basal webbing. Dorsal ground color is from light brown or yellowish brown to grayish, with dark brown spots that f ... ''Batrachyla fitzroya'' is a species of frog in the family Batrachylidae. It is endemic to Argentina and only known from its type locality, Isla Grande in Lake Menéndez, in the Los Alerces National Park, Chubut Province. The specific name ''fitzroya'' refers to ''Fitzroya cupressoides'', a prominent tree at the type locality. Description The type series consists of three males and two females measuring in snout–vent length; the holotype, an adult male, measures . They eyes are inconspicuous. The tympanum is small, about half of the eye diameter. The snout is rounded in dorsal view and truncated in lateral view. The fingers and the toes are long; the fingers are free from webbing but the toes are basally webbed. The dorsum is brown with darker, diffuse blotches. There is a V-shaped inter-ocular band and concave supra-scapular bands. The limbs are cross-banded. The belly is unpigmented apart from some minute gray spots. Dorsal skin is smooth. Batrachyla Taeniata
''Batrachyla taeniata'' is a species of frog in the family Batrachylidae. It is found in Argentina and Chile. Habitat This frog has been found in a variety of habitats including acacia steppe, rainforests, other forests, marshes, and cold areas. Scientists saw this frog between 0 and 1000 meters above sea level. Scientists have seen the frog in many protected parks. Reproduction The male frog sits under a bush and calls to the female frogs. The female frog lays eggs on the leaf litter Plant litter (also leaf litter, tree litter, soil litter, litterfall, or duff) is dead plant material (such as leaves, bark, needles, twigs, and cladodes) that has fallen to the ground. ''Batrachyla antartandica'' is a species of frog in the family Batrachylidae. It is found in Argentina and Chile. Home This frog can live in cold humid forests, rainforests, in bogs and other wetlands in forests, near ponds, and near lakes with swamps nearby. Adults have been observed climbing Nothofagus trees. They have been observed in gardens and pastures. Scientists have seen the frog in more than ten protected parks. Reproduction The female lays eggs on the ground under logs or moss. Subsequent rainfall floods the area, and the tadpoles develop in this water. Parental care has been observed. Threats Scientists from the IUCN say this frog is not in danger of dying out. Frog
A frog is any member of a diverse and largely semiaquatic group of short-bodied, tailless amphibian vertebrates composing the order (biology), order Anura (coming from the Ancient Greek , literally 'without tail'). Frog species with rough skin texture due to wart-like parotoid glands tend to be called toads, but the distinction between frogs and toads is informal and purely cosmetic, not from taxonomy (biology), taxonomy or evolutionary history. Frogs are widely distributed, ranging from the tropics to subarctic regions, but the greatest concentration of species diversity is in tropical rainforest and associated wetlands. They account for around 88% of extant amphibian species, and are one of the five most diverse vertebrate orders. The oldest fossil "proto-frog" ''Triadobatrachus'' is known from the Early Triassic of Madagascar (250Myr, million years ago), but molecular clock, molecular clock dating suggests their divergent evolution, divergence from other amphibians may exte ...
