Baten Bahini
Baten Bahini was an armed guerrilla force formed in Tangail district in support of independence during the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971. It was named after its leader, Khandaker Abdul Baten. Throughout the war, it conducted a number of successful guerrilla campaigns in Tangail, Manikganj, Pabna, Gazipur, Sirajganj and some parts of Dhaka District. It was organized into 21 companies, 63 platoons, and 100 sections. Abdul Baten led a number of guerrilla attacks. Structure and history During the Liberation War, Abdul Baten was the Vice President of the Student Union of Government Saadat University College in Tangail. On March 30, 1971, after a student of Saadat University College, Jumrat Ali, was killed by Pakistani forces in Achimtal of Sakhipur Upazila, Abdul Baten returned to his native area Nagarpur and formed the Baten Bahini (Baten Force) with a few acquaintances. Khandaker Abdul Baten
Khandaker Abdul Baten (17 May 1946 – 21 January 2019) was a Bangladesh Awami League politician and a member of Parliament from Tangail-6. Early life Baten completed his education up till the undergraduate level, securing a B.A. with honours. Career Baten was a member of the Mukti Bahini during the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971. He was a politician of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal party who joined the Awami League, Bangladesh Awami League in 1992. He also took with him some of his followers. Some of the local Bangladesh Awami League politicians expressed disappointment when he joined. He lost the Tangail-6 (Nagarpur-Delduar) constituency election to Gautam Chakroborty – the Bangladesh Nationalist Party candidate, in 1996 and 2001. Latif Bahini
Latif Bahini (Also known as Mirza Abdul Latif Bahini) was a militia during the Bangladesh War of Independence. Abdul Latif Mirza was a member in the Bangladesh Forces. He planned to build a force in Vodroghat village under Kamarkhand Police Station in Sirajganj District, Rajshahi Division. Formation Initially, Abdul Latif Mirza organised a team filled with youths, and named it 'Polashdanga Youth Camp'. The force had only 7 rifles and 15 fighters. Mujib Bahini
The Mujib Bahini, initially called the Bangladesh Liberation Force (BLF), was an politico-armed force formed during the Bangladesh Liberation War to fight against Pakistan in 1971. The force was mainly composed of activists drawn from the Awami League and its student front, the Chhatra League. At its height, it had reportedly 10,000 members. It was organised with the active assistance of Major General Sujan Singh Uban of the Indian Army and Research and Analysis Wing. Kader Bahini
Kader Bahini (Force of Kader) was an independent militia created during the Bangladesh War of Independence of 1971, the other being Mukti Bahini. It was named after its leader, Kader Siddique. The militia operated against the Pakistan Army in Tangail. Siddique was wounded at the Makrar battle near Balla village. Kader Bahini is notable for the capture of a Pakistani ship with large quantities of arms and ammunition at Bhuapur. They also captured several armored cars along with bulletproof carriers. Nagarpur () is an upazila of Tangail District in the Division of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Nagarpur Thana was established in 1905 and was converted into an upazila in 1983. Geography Nagarpur is located at . The total area of the Upazila is 266.7 km2. Sakhipur () is an upazila of Tangail District in the division of Dhaka, Bangladesh.
