Batang Gilas
The men's national under-17 basketball team of the Philippines represents the country in junior men's under-16 and under-17 FIBA tournaments and is governed by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas. The team was handled by Josh Reyes until 2024. Samahang Basketbol Ng Pilipinas
The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas () or the SBP is the national sport association for basketball in the Philippines, formed from the merging of the Basketball Association of the Philippines (BAP) and Pilipinas Basketball (PB). It was formed in order to fix a long running feud in Philippine Basketball that resulted in FIBA suspending the country from participating in FIBA-sanctioned events. Both groups signed a joint communique during the FIBA Congress in Saitama, Saitama, Saitama, Japan in September 2006. Manuel V. Pangilinan, chairman of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company, and owner of the Philippine Basketball Association, PBA teams TNT Tropang Giga, Meralco Bolts and NLEX Road Warriors was named as the first president of the organization on February 5, 2007, up until August 8, 2016. 2014 FIBA Under-17 World Championship
The 2014 FIBA Under-17 World Championship (Arabic: بطولة العالم لكرة السلة 2014 تحت 17 سنة ) was the 3rd edition of the FIBA Under-17 World Championship, the biennial international men's youth basketball championship contested by the U17 national teams of the member associations of FIBA. It was hosted by Dubai, United Arab Emirates from 8 to 16 August 2014. This edition of the tournament was also expanded to sixteen teams. The preliminary round took place in Al-Ahli Arena and Al-Wasl Arena, with the Hamdan Sports Complex hosting the final round. This was the first FIBA U17 World Championship that was held outside of Europe. The 2023 FIBA U16 Asian Championship was the seventh edition of the FIBA Under-16 Asian Championship in the International Basketball Federation's FIBA Asia zone. The 2022 FIBA Under-16 Asian Championship was the sixth edition of the under-16 basketball championship in the International Basketball Federation's FIBA Asia zone. 2015 FIBA Asia Under-16 Championship
The 2015 FIBA Asia Under-16 Championship was the qualifying tournament for FIBA Asia at the 2016 FIBA Under-17 World Championship. The tournament was supposed to be held in Bangalore, India from July 2 to 12, but according to FIBA's official tournament website, it is scheduled to be played in Jakarta, Indonesia from October 29 to November 7. South Korea defeated Chinese Taipei in the Finals, 78–69 to capture their first FIBA Asia Under-16 Championship after finishing second in the first two installments of the competition. Three-time defending champions China on the other hand managed to capture bronze against Japan, 80–58.
