picture info	Felipe Enrique Neri, Baron De Bastrop Felipe Enrique Neri (born ''Philip Hendrik Nering Bögel''; November 23, 1759 in Paramaribo, Surinam (Dutch colony), Surinam – 23 February 1827) was a Dutch businessman and land owner known for his money in English American, Anglo-American settlement of Texas. Early life and family Philip Hendrik Nering Bögel was the son of the lawyer Coenraed Laurens Nering Bögel from Terborg and Maria Jacoba Kraayvanger from Surinam who married in 1754. In 1764, the family moved to the Netherlands. He married Lady Georgine Wolfelina Françoise Lycklama à Nijeholt in Oldeboorn, on April 28, 1782. They settled in Leeuwarden, where Neri was appointed as a tax collector. The couple had five children. Flight to North America In 1793 Nering was accused of using tax funds for personal gain. History Bastrop was founded by Felipe Enrique Neri, Baron de Bastrop, a Dutch businessman accused as an embezzler. He had fled to the then Spanish colony of Louisiana (New Spain), Louisiana to escape prosecution and became involved in various land deals. In New Spain, he falsely claimed to be a nobleman. He received a large grant of land, provided that he could settle 450 families on it over the next several years. However, he was unable to do this, and so lost the grant. 	Bastrop High School (Louisiana) Bastrop High School is a senior high school in Bastrop, Louisiana, United States. It is a part of the Morehouse Parish School Board. History In 2006, Bastrop High had an undefeated American football team season, but on August 28, 2006, the Louisiana High School Athletic Association removed the school's title, arguing that it had improperly contacted and transported players from Port Sulphur, Louisiana who had been displaced by Hurricane Katrina. History Spanish soldiers lived temporarily at the current site of Bastrop as early as 1804, when a fort was established where the Old San Antonio Road crossed the Colorado River and named ''Puesta del Colorado''.
