Saint Bassian
Bassianus of Lodi (, ; c. 320 – 413) was an Italian saint, the patron saint of Lodi and Pizzighettone in Italy. Biography Born in Syracuse, Sicily, to Sergius, prefect of the city, Bassianus was sent to Rome in order to complete his studies. There, he was converted to Christianity by a priest named Giordano much against his parents' will. Bassianus's father, who wanted his son to apostatize, asked him to return to Syracuse. Bassianus refused and fled to a relative, Urso, Bishop of Ravenna. There Bassianus took up the life of a hermit near Sant'Apollinare in Classe. When the bishop of Lodi died around 373, Bassianus was asked to succeed him. He was consecrated bishop by Ambrose of Milan and Urso of Ravenna. Bassianus built a church dedicated to the Apostles, consecrating it in 381 in the presence of Ambrose and Saint Felix of Como. Bassian Thrush
The Bassian thrush (''Zoothera lunulata''), also known as the olive-tailed thrush, is a medium-sized mostly insectivorous thrush found from northern Queensland to southeastern Australia. It also occurs in Tasmania, on some larger islands of Bass Strait, and on Kangaroo Island. The thrushes range from in length and average in weight. It is estimated that the range-wide population is large, though no official count has ever been established. The population appears to be declining because of ongoing habitat destruction and degradation, but not at a rate that is concerning. The Bassian thrush lives in shrubland, forests, and rainforests. It appears to be a resident species, but there is some evidence that some individuals have nomadic tendencies, usually in the non-breeding season. The thrush ranges in colour from brown to olive, with a white ring around its eyes and black bars on its back, rear, and head. The Bassian ecoregion is a biogeographic region of Australia's coastal and continental shelf waters. It includes the cold-temperate waters surrounding Tasmania, including the central Bass Strait between Tasmania and the southern Australian mainland. The following is a list of marine ecoregions, as defined by the WWF and The Nature Conservancy The WWF/Nature Conservancy scheme groups the individual ecoregions into 12 marine realms, which represent the broad latitudinal divisions of polar, temperate, and tropical seas, with subdivisions based on ocean basins. The marine realms are subdivided into 62 marine provinces, which include one or more of the 232 marine ecoregions. Vassian Patrikeyev (; – between 1531 and 1545), also known as Vassian Kosoy (; real name Prince Vasily Ivanovich Patrikeyev), was a bishop of Rostov and confidant of Ivan III of Moscow. Vassian was an ecclesiastic and political figure and writer and an early member of the House of Golitsyn that traced its male-line descent to Duke Patrikas of Korela and to Gediminas, Grand Duke of Lithuania. Political action He was known to have been one of the leaders of the boyar party, which supported tsarevich Dmitry Ivanovich (grandson of Ivan III) in a struggle against Sophia Paleologue's son Vasili for succession to the throne. In ecclesiastic matters, the boyar party was generally closer to heretical and freedom-loving circles. Vassian wrote the "Epistle on the Ugra" (''Poslanie na Ugru''), which contains political propaganda about the so-called " Stand on the Ugra".
