Bassam Talhouni
Bassam Talhouni ( ar, بسام التلهوني; born 1964) is a Jordanian lawyer, academic and politician. He served as industry minister. Between August 2013 and September 2016 he was minister of justice. Talhouni served as minister of justice in Bisher Al-Khasawneh's cabinet. He resigned with Samir Mobeideen on 28 February 2021 due to breaking lockdown in the COVID-19 pandemic in Jordan. Early life and education Talhouni was born in Amman in 1964. He received a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in law from the University of Jordan. He also holds a PhD in law from the University of Edinburgh which he obtained in 1997. Career Talhouni registered at the Jordan Bar Association in 1988 and owns a law firm in Amman. He was assistant professor at the University of Jordan's law faculty. He served as a member in the legislation and justice branch within the national agenda committee and companies' comptroller. The Parliament of Jordan ( ar, مجلس الأمة ') is the bicameral Jordanian national assembly. Established by the 1952 Constitution, the legislature consists of two houses: the Senate ( ar, مجلس الأعيان ''Majlis Al-Aayan'') and the House of Representatives ( ar, مجلس النواب ''Majlis Al-Nuwaab''). The Senate has 65 members, all of whom are directly appointed by the King, while the House of Representatives has 130 elected members, with nine seats reserved for Christians, three are for Chechen and Circassian minorities, and fifteen for women. Hani Al-Mulki's Cabinet
The Prime Minister of Jordan, Hani Al-Mulki, was tasked with forming a cabinet on 29 May 2016. The new cabinet was sworn in by King Abdullah II on 1 June 2016. After the September 2016 general election, Mulki formed a new cabinet. The Cabinet consisted of 28 members, three of them also serving as Deputy Prime Ministers. 11 Ministers returned from the latest formation of the previous cabinet of Abdullah Ensour, while 9 others had served in earlier cabinets. 8 Ministers had no previous experience in cabinet.
