Bass Communion I
''I'' (or ''Bass Communion I'') is the first studio album released by British musician, songwriter, and producer Steven Wilson under the pseudonym Bass Communion in 1998. It was reissued in December 2001 through Hidden Art record label. The basis of both "Drugged" pieces were reused for the title track of No-Man's album ''Together We're Stranger'' as well as "Drugged 3" from ''Bass Communion II''. Brief distorted extracts from the suite can also be heard on the 1996 song "Urban Disco," a b-side from the "Housewives Hooked on Heroin" single (of the '' Wild Opera'' album), recorded by No-Man, a Wilson project and collaboration with singer-songwriter Tim Bowness. Bass Communion
''Bass Communion'' is a solo project of English musician Steven Wilson, best known for his lead role in the rock band Porcupine Tree. Records released under the name "Bass Communion" are in an ambient music, ambient or electronic vein - lengthy drone-heavy compositions. They come about as experiments in texture made from processing the sound of real instruments and field recordings. Drone music, drone-based music, or simply drone, is a minimalist genre that emphasizes the use of sustained sounds, notes, or tone clusters – called drones. Steven Wilson
Steven John Wilson (born 3 November 1967) is an English musician. He is the founder, guitarist, lead vocalist and songwriter of the rock band Porcupine Tree, as well as being a member of several other bands, including Blackfield, Storm Corrosion and No-Man. He is also a solo artist, having released 6 solo albums since his solo debut ''Insurgentes'' in 2008. In a career spanning more than 30 years, Wilson has made music prolifically and earned critical acclaim. His honours include six nominations for Grammy Awards: twice with Porcupine Tree, once with his collaborative band Storm Corrosion and three times as a solo artist. Bass Communion II
''Bass Communion II'' is the second studio album released in 1999 by British musician, songwriter, and producer Steven Wilson under the pseudonym Bass Communion. The first edition was a double album with a second disc containing a track of sampled material provided by Robert Fripp and a remix by The Square Root of Sub. The 2002 reissue of the album excludes the remix by The Square Root of Sub and moves the Fripp-based track to the first disc, taking the album to a single CD. The album was later released on vinyl in December 2007 by Tonefloat Records and includes exclusive bonus material on Side D. In November 2008, the album was re-issued together with III in a 2CD edition limited to 1,200 copies. No-Man are an English art pop duo, formed in 1987 as No Man Is an Island (Except the Isle of Man) by singer Tim Bowness and multi-instrumentalist Steven Wilson. Together We're Stranger
''Together We're Stranger'' is No-Man's fifth studio album released by the Snapper Music label in 2003. The first four songs are linked to form a 28-minute suite of continuous music with recurring lyrical and musical themes. The remaining three songs feature acoustic guitar and clarinet-dominated arrangements and are amongst the band's most stripped-down and intimate recordings. In keeping with other No-Man releases, the title track reuses the musical basis of a previous Steven Wilson work: that of "Drugged" from his first Bass Communion album. The chord progression in "The Break-Up For Real" would later be reused by Wilson for songs on Porcupine Tree's 2009 album, '' The Incident''. ''Wild Opera'' is No-Man's third studio album which displays art rock, trip hop and dub influences that were developed from improvisatory writing sessions. History In 1996, No-Man announced their return on a new label, 3rd Stone Ltd., home of Spacemen 3 and Bark Psychosis. This was led by the ''Housewives Hooked on Heroin'' single (a ''Hot Press'' "Single of the Fortnight"), a taster for the ''Wild Opera'' album which followed that autumn. Most of the album had emerged from a series of semi-spontaneous improvisations recorded over a few hours, rather than planned-out attempts at songwriting. The raw results of three such sessions appeared on the album. The title track itself is unlisted and appears as a 'hidden' bonus track. Tim Bowness (born 29 November 1963) is an English singer and songwriter primarily known for his work as part of the band No-Man, a long-term project formed in 1987 with Porcupine Tree's Steven Wilson. Theo Travis
Theo Travis (born 7 July 1964 in Birmingham, England) is a British saxophonist, flautist and composer. He is best known for being a member of Soft Machine which he joined in 2006 while the group was still using the "Legacy" suffix and for being a member of Gong from 1999 to 2010. Biography Travis received his degree in music from the University of Manchester specialising in the works of Shostakovich. He has made eleven solo albums, mostly as a band leader working in the field of jazz, composing and arranging most of the material. Robert Fripp (born 16 May 1946) is a British musician, songwriter, record producer, and author, best known as the guitarist, founder and longest-lasting member of the progressive rock band King Crimson.
