Basket Rimini
Rinascita Basket Rimini (RBR), formerly known as Basket Rimini and Basket Rimini Crabs, is an Italian basketball team based in Rimini, Emilia-Romagna. From the 1978–79 to the 2010–11 season, the team continuously played in professional basketball between Lega Basket Serie A, Serie A1 and Serie A2 Basket, Serie A2/Legadue, with one exception, the 1990–91 season (played in Serie B Basket, Serie B1). History The team was officially established in 1947. As Polisportiva Libertas, they spent their first decades in the regional leagues. In 1972, the team was promoted for the first time to Serie B, the second highest league in Italy at the time. It was also renamed Basket Rimini. In 1974, Alberto Bucci was appointed as the new head coach. Carlton Myers
Carlton Ettore Francesco Myers (born 30 March 1971) is an Italian former professional basketball player who played in the Italian league and the EuroLeague. Myers was initially raised in the United Kingdom. One of the best European shooting guards of his generation, he won a FIBA EuroBasket title with the senior Italian national team in 1999. Early life Myers was born in London, England to a Caribbean father from Saint Vincent and an Italian mother from Pesaro. He was raised in London until the age of 9, when he moved with his mother to Rimini, Italy. Serie A2, known for sponsorship reasons as Serie A2 Old Wild West, is a men's basketball list of basketball leagues, league in Italy. It constitutes the second-tier of the Italian basketball league system, Italian league pyramid, below the first division Lega Basket Serie A, LBA and above the third division Serie B Basket, Serie B, with promotion and relegation, promotion/relegation occurring between these leagues. It is run by the Lega Nazionale Pallacanestro (LNP), itself regulated by the Federazione Italiana Pallacanestro, FIP, the Italian federation. Franklin Lenard Johnson (born November 23, 1958) is an American former professional basketball player and coach. He played ten seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the Washington Bullets, Houston Rockets and Phoenix Suns. Playing career In high school, he played basketball for the Lake Weir Hurricanes. During his junior year in 1974–1975, he was a star for the 33–0 Hurricanes team that won Marion County's first state championship. He played collegiately for Wake Forest University, becoming an All-American selection in 1980–81. He was inducted into the school's hall of fame in 1998. Johnson was selected in the first round of the 1981 NBA draft with the 11th pick by the Washington Bullets. Darnell Terrell Valentine (born February 3, 1959) is an American former professional basketball player who played ten seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Early life Valentine was born in Chicago, Illinois and graduated from Wichita Heights High School in Wichita, Kansas, in 1977. He was named to the inaugural McDonald's All-American team, which played in the 1977 Capital Classic (all-star game), Capital Classic. Due to the United States boycotting the 1980 Summer Olympics, he was the only American to win a medal at those games, using a dual citizenship to play for Italy. He played center for the Seattle SuperSonics, Los Angeles Clippers, Detroit Pistons, Sacramento Kings, and Utah Jazz of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
