The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) is the international Sports governing body, governing body for the sports of baseball, softball, Baseball5 and Blind baseball. It was established in 2013 by the merger of the International Baseball Federation (IBAF) and International Softball Federation (ISF). Under the WBSC's organizational structure, the IBAF and ISF serve as the confederation's baseball and softball divisions, respectively. The Baseball5 European Championship (European Men's Baseball5 Championship) is the main championship tournament between national Baseball5 teams in Europe, governed by the WBSC Europe. The tournament serves as qualifier for the Baseball5 World Cup, with the top two teams qualifying for the world championship. France and Lithuania are the most successful teams, having won the championship once. History The first championship was held in Vilnius, Lithuania in 2020 and was contested between 14 national teams. The tournament was won by France, after defeating Lithuania in the final 2 matches to 0. Both teams qualified for the 2022 Baseball5 World Cup held in Mexico City. The Baseball5 Asia Cup is the main Baseball5 tournament in Asia, governed by WBSC Asia. The top three teams qualify to the Baseball5 World Cup. History The inaugural edition of the Baseball5 Asia Cup was due to be held in 2020, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The first championship was held in August 2022 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and was won by Chinese Taipei, after beating Japan in the final 2 matches to 1. The second edition of the tournament was held in Seoul's Olympic Park, South Korea. In a replay of the 2022 final, Japan beat Chinese Taipei 2 sets to 0 to claim their first Asian championship.
