Bartley Gorman
Bartley Gorman V (1 March 1944 – 18 January 2002) was a Welsh bare-knuckle boxer. Born in England to Welsh Romani people, Travellers, Gorman called himself "the King of the Gypsies". Between 1972 and 1992, he reigned supreme in the world of illegal gypsy boxing. During these years, he fought down a mineshaft, in a quarry, at horse fairs, on campsites, in bars and clubs, and in the streets. Several of Gorman's relatives have become professional boxers, including Nathan Gorman, Hughie Fury and Tyson Fury. Early life Gorman was born on 1 March 1944, in Giltbrook, Nottinghamshire, England, to a Wales, Welsh father and Irish Travellers, Irish mother, who were both Travellers. Bare-knuckle Boxer
Bare-knuckle boxing (also known as bare-knuckle or bare-knuckle fighting) is a full-contact combat sport based on punching without any form of padding on the hands. The sport as it is known today originated in 17th-century England and, although similar, it differs from street fighting as it follows an accepted set of rules. The rules that provided the foundation for bare-knuckle boxing for much of the 18th and 19th centuries were the London Prize Ring Rules. By the late 19th century, professional boxing moved from bare-knuckle to using boxing gloves. The last major world heavyweight championship held under bare-knuckle boxing rules happened in 1889 and was held by John L. Sullivan. The World Boxing Association (WBA), formerly known as the National Boxing Association (NBA), is an international professional boxing organization based in Panama. The WBA awards its world championship title at the professional level. Founded in the United States in 1921 by 13 state representatives as the NBA, it is the oldest major organization regulating fights. Patrick George Considine (born 5 September 1973) is an English actor, director, screenwriter and musician. He is known for playing antiheros in independent films. ''A Room for Romeo Brass'' is a 1999 British teen comedy-drama film directed by Shane Meadows, who also co-wrote the film with Paul Fraser. The film was mainly shot in Calverton, Nottinghamshire between 5 September and 17 October 1998. The location of the seaside scene was Chapel St. Leonards in Lincolnshire. Vulture
A vulture is a bird of prey that scavenges on carrion. There are 23 extant species of vulture (including condors). Old World vultures include 16 living species native to Europe, Africa, and Asia; New World vultures are restricted to North and South America and consist of seven identified species, all belonging to the Cathartidae family. A particular characteristic of many vultures is a bald, unfeathered head. This bare skin is thought to keep the head clean when feeding, and also plays an important role in thermoregulation. Uttoxeter ( , ) is a market town and civil parish in the East Staffordshire borough of Staffordshire, England. It is near to the Derbyshire county border. History The British Boxing Board of Control was formed in 1929 from the old National Sporting Club and is headquartered in Cardiff. Paddy Monaghan
Paddy "Monty" Monaghan was an Irish footballer who played for Sligo Rovers and the Irish Free State national team. Monaghan played for Sligo before they entered senior football, winning the Leinster Senior League, the Metropolitan Cup and the FAI Intermediate Cup. He played in the club's first senior match in 1934, against St James's Gate in the League of Ireland Shield.
