Barry Palmer (British Singer)
Barry Palmer (born 1958) is an English singer. He was a replacement for singer Helmut Köllen in the German band Triumvirat in 1976, and appeared on the albums '' Old Loves Die Hard'' and '' Pompeii'' in 1977. He later joined Mike Oldfield on his ''Discovery'' album in 1984, sharing vocals with Maggie Reilly. He has also released two solo albums. Biography and career Born in Worcestershire, England, Palmer began his singing career in the early 1970s when he joined Scarborough-based band Brave New World as their lead singer. Brave New World were a five-piece band who played all their own original material but were also influenced by bands such as Family, Fairport Convention and Wishbone Ash. After Brave New World disbanded in 1972/73, Palmer pursued a solo singing career and released his first single titled "Always". Barry Palmer is an Australian musician, songwriter and record producer, based in Melbourne. Barry was a member of the band Hunters & Collectors, from 1988 to 1998. History Palmer began playing alongside his brother Craig Palmer and bluesman Chris Wilson in popular R&B band The Sole Twisters. He came to prominence as guitarist and songwriter for indie darlings, Harem Scarem and Crown of Thorns, later joining one of Australia's truly iconic bands Hunters & Collectors in 1989. In 2005 he was the subject of a documentary series ''The Hit Game'' on ABC television, which showed him producing and developing four unsigned artists: Deepface who were later signed to Fly Records (a division of JJJ); Belinda-Lee Reid (ex-Lash) who was later signed to a substantial deal; Vanessa Morefea who later signed to Instant Karma in the UK; and finally the Wolfgramm sisters, who have toured with Jet and the '' Countdown'' series. Barry Hill Palmer (born November 10, 1937) is an American aeronautical engineer (UC Berkeley, 1961), inventor, builder and pilot of the first hang glider based on the Rogallo wing or ''flexible wing''. Palmer also designed, built and flew the first weight-shift ultralight trike aircraft. Inventor of the first Flexible Wing hang glider On August 1961 Barry Palmer first saw a photo of the Rogallo wing mounted on the Fleep experimental aircraft published in the Aviation Week magazine and became interested in this flexible wing because of its light weight and simplicity. In October 1961 he completed construction and flew the first flexible wing hang glider; this took place near Latrobe, east of Sacramento, California.
