Barry MacKinnon
Barry John MacKinnon (born 29 October 1944) is a former Australian politician who was a Liberal Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia from 1977 to 1993. He was the state leader of the Liberal Party (and thus Leader of the Opposition) from 1986 to 1992, although he led the party at only one election ( in 1989). MacKinnon had earlier served as a minister in the governments of Sir Charles Court and Ray O'Connor. He worked as an accountant before entering politics, and since leaving parliament has involved himself in various community organisations. Charles Court
Sir Charles Walter Michael Court, (29 September 1911 – 22 December 2007) was a Western Australian politician, and the 21st Premier of Western Australia from 1974 to 1982. He was a member of the Liberal Party. Early life Court's family emigrated from his birthplace Crawley, Sussex, England, to Perth when he was 6 months old. He went to primary school in Leederville, and then to Perth Boys High School, Perth Boys School. His Salvation Army parents induced him to play the cornet in their Sunday parades and he became a proficient player. He began formal music training at 12 and became a member of the Returned and Services League of Australia, RSL Memorial Band. He also inherited a strong Trade union, union background from his father, a plumber, and joined the Musicians Union at the age of 14, playing in annual May Day parades. Jandakot is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia. The district is based in the southern suburbs of Perth and is named for the suburb of Jandakot. It also includes the suburbs of Canning Vale (part), Forrestdale, Harrisdale, Leeming, Piara Waters and Treeby. Politically, the district is a marginal one. Murdoch was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia. It existed from 1977 to 1989 and again from 1996 to 2008. Murdoch was named for Sir Walter Murdoch, a prominent academic for whom Murdoch University, which was located in the electorate, was also named. Bushells is an Australian company that produces tea and coffee. History Bushell's was founded by Alfred Bushell in 1883, when he opened a tea shop in Queensland. His sons moved the enterprise to Sydney in 1899 and began selling tea commercially, founding Australia's first commercial tea seller. A Bushell tea factory was set up in Harrington Street Sydney and a coffee roasting department at Atherton Place in The Rocks. Members of the Bushell family acquired the heritage-listed Sydney house, Carthona, in 1940. In the 1980s the company diversified its coffee manufacturing under the Bushells Coffee brand. Bridgetown, Western Australia
Bridgetown is a town in the South West region of Western Australia, approximately south of Perth on the Blackwood River at the intersection of South Western Highway with Brockman Highway to Nannup and Augusta. History The area was originally known as Geegelup, which was believed to mean "place of gilgies" in the Noongar language, referring to the fresh water lobster that inhabits the area. However recent research suggests the actual meaning of Geegelup may be "place of spears". In 1852, A.C.
