Barry Coulter
Barry Francis Coulter (born 27 December 1948) is a former Australian politician. He was a Country Liberal Party member of the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly from 1983 to 1999, representing the electorates of Electoral division of Berrimah, Berrimah, Electoral division of Palmerston, Palmerston and Electoral division of Blain, Blain. He was Deputy Chief Minister from 1986 to 1995 under Stephen Hatton and Marshall Perron. He was expected to succeed Perron but was defeated by Shane Stone. Electoral Division Of Blain
Blain is an electoral division of the Legislative Assembly in Australia's Northern Territory. It was first created in 1997 and is named after Adair Blain, the second member for the federal Northern Territory electorate, and the only Australian sitting federal MP to ever become a prisoner of war. Blain is an urban electorate, covering 4 km² and taking in Palmerston suburbs of Bellamack and Woodroffe and the suburb of Moulden. There were 5,695 people enrolled within the electorate as of August 2020. The current member for Blain is Matthew Kerle, who was elected for the CLP at the 2024 election. In territory politics, it operates in a two-party system with the Australian Labor Party (ALP). The Legislative Assembly of the Northern Territory (also known as the Parliament of the Northern Territory) is the unicameral legislature of Australia’s Northern Territory. The Legislative Assembly has 25 members, each elected in single-member electorates for four-year terms. Stephen Paul Hatton (born 28 January 1948) is an Australian politician, who was Chief Minister of the Northern Territory of Australia from 1986 to 1988. From 1983 until his retirement in 2001, he was MLA for the seat of Nightcliff. He first became a minister in December 1984 in the Ian Tuxworth government. He is a member and former leader of the Country Liberal Party, and was the Chief Minister of the Northern Territory between May 1995 and February 1999. Terry Mills (Australian Politician)
Terence Kennedy Mills (born 22 December 1957) is an Australian politician. He served as chief minister of the Northern Territory from 2012 to 2013 and was leader of the Country Liberal Party (CLP) from 2003 to 2005 and 2008 to 2013. Mills, who had been the principal of a Christian school, was first elected to the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly in 1999, representing the seat of Blain. He was CLP leader and leader of the opposition from 2003 to 2005, but was replaced before contesting an election. He returned to the leadership in 2008, gaining seven seats at the 2008 election and then forming a majority government after the 2012 election. He spent less than a year as chief minister before being replaced by Adam Giles following a leadership spill.
