The Barrie Police Service (BPS; ) is the police service of the city of Barrie, Ontario, Canada. It is made up of 238 police personnel and 109 civilians that serve a population of 135,711, as of 2011, in an area covering . The chief of police is the highest-ranking officer of the Barrie Police Service. The current chief is Rich Johnston. Barrie
Barrie is a city in Central Ontario, Canada, about north of Toronto. The city is within Simcoe County and located along the shores of Kempenfelt Bay. Although it is physically in the county, Barrie is politically independent. The city is part of the extended urban area in southern Ontario known as the Golden Horseshoe, Greater Golden Horseshoe. As of the 2021 Census of Population, 2021 census, the city's population was 147,829, while the Census metropolitan areas, census metropolitan area had a population of 212,856 residents. An Integrated Safety and Security Group (ISSG) (), formerly known as an Integrated Security Unit (ISU), is a unified and coordinated task force comprising multiple law enforcement agencies in Canada. It is responsible for coordinating the safety and security for major national and international events, including the G7 Summit and the Olympic Games, Olympics.
