Barrett Carter
Barrett Carter (born October 23, 2002) is an American professional football linebacker for the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Clemson Tigers and was selected by the Bengals in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL draft. Early life Carter was born on October 23, 2002, in Suwanee, Georgia. He attended North Gwinnett High School; he recorded 73 tackles and 10 sacks in 2019. Carter was rated a four-star recruit and committed to play college football at Clemson over offers from Georgia, Auburn, and Ohio State. College career Carter played in 12 games as a freshman in 2021. He entered his sophomore season as a starter. Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and typically line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and so back up the defensive linemen. They play closer to the line of scrimmage than the defensive backs (secondary). As such, linebackers play a hybrid role and are often the most versatile players on the defensive side of the ball; they can be asked to play roles similar to either a defensive lineman (such as stopping the runner on a running play) or a defensive back (such as dropping back into pass coverage).
