William Baring Du Pré
Colonel William Baring du Pré, (5 April 1875 – 23 August 1946) was a British Conservative Party (UK), Conservative Party politician. He was a descendant of James Du Pré and likewise lived at Wilton Park Estate, Wilton Park, Beaconsfield from 1896 to 1911; the family subsequently moved to Taplow House, Buckinghamshire. Military and Political career Du Pré was educated at Winchester College and the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, and was originally commissioned into the King's Royal Rifle Corps, from which he resigned as a Lieutenant (British Army and Royal Marines), lieutenant. Following the outbreak of the Second Boer War, he re-commissioned as a lieutenant in the 47th Company, Imperial Yeomanry, on 21 February 1900. Sabine Baring-Gould (; 28 January 1834 – 2 January 1924) of Lew Trenchard in Devon, England, was an Anglican priest, hagiographer, antiquarian, novelist, folk song collector and eclectic scholar. His bibliography consists of more than 1,240 publications, though this list continues to grow. He is remembered particularly as a writer of hymns, the best-known being "Onward, Christian Soldiers", and "Now the Day Is Over". He also translated the carols "Gabriel's Message", and "Sing Lullaby" from Basque language, Basque to English. ''Baring'' was launched at Calcutta in 1805 as ''Alexander Brodie''. Her owners sold her to Portuguese interests that named her ''Asia Felix''. They in turn sold her to British owners in 1809. The British owners renamed her ''Baring''. She made one voyage for the British East India Company (EIC) between 1811 and 1812. Career ''Baring'', Palmer & Co., owners, appeared on a list of vessels registered at Calcutta in January 1811. On 13 December 1810 a ''Baring'' arrived at Portsmouth from Bengal, Madras, and the Cape of Good Hope. EIC voyage Captain Henry Templer sailed from Gravesend on 28 May 1811 and Portsmouth on 27 July, bound for Bengal. ''Baring'' reached Madeira on 14 August, and the Cape of Good Hope on 23 October, before arriving at Diamond Harbour on 13 January 1812. ''Baring'' was a three-decker East Indiaman that made six voyages to India for the British East India Company (EIC) between 1802 and 1814. Her owners then sold her and under new owners she made two voyages transporting convicts to Australia. Her last appearance in ''Lloyd's Register'' is in 1820. East Indiaman Voyage 1 (1802-1803) Captain Dixon Meadows left Portsmouth on 1 March 1802, bound for Madras and Bengal. ''Baring'' reached Madeira on 14 March and Madras on 5 July, and arrived at Diamond Harbour on 17 July.
