Barholm
Barholm is a village in the civil parish of Barholm and Stowe, in the South Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. It is west from the A15 road, and south from Bourne. In 1921 the parish had a population of 170. Barholm is first recorded as "Berc(a)ham" in 1086; the name is from Old English ''beorg'' + ''hām'' or ''hamm'' and means "homestead or enclosure on a hill." Hereward (later known as Hereward the Wake) owned land in Barholm and the nearby village of Stowe in the period before the Norman Conquest in 1066. St Martin's Church is Grade I listed. The church received a new tower during the English Civil War and an inscription with the date 1648 reads: "Was ever such a thing Since the Creation? A new steeple built In the time of vexation." 2023 South Kesteven District Council Election
The 2023 South Kesteven District Council election took place on 4 May 2023 to elect all 56 members of South Kesteven District Council in Lincolnshire, England. This was on the same day as 2023 United Kingdom local elections, other local elections across England. The council was under Conservative majority control prior to the election. The Conservatives remained the largest party after the election but lost their majority. Both the Conservative leader, Kelham Cooke, and deputy leader, Adam Stokes, lost their seats. A coalition of some of the independent councillors and the Greens, Liberal Democrats and Labour formed to take control of the council, narrowly beating a rival coalition of the Conservatives and some of the other independents to form an administration by one vote at the council's subsequent annual meeting on 18 May 2023.
