Barharia is a Community development block and a town in the northern part of the Siwan District in the Indian state of Bihar. It is one out of 13 blocks located in Siwan Subdivision. Barharia is surrounded by Manjha Block to the North, Siwan Block to the South, Goriakothi Block to the East, and Thawe Block towards North. Mirganj, Siwan, Barauli, and Gopalganj are nearby cities. The total population of Barharia is 321,292 as of 2011 census and the total area of block is . Barharia town is the headquarter of this block. It was in the national news in 2001 when part of the block was flooded by the Daha River. Siwan District
Siwan district is one of the districts of Bihar state, India. Siwan town is the administrative headquarters of this district. Siwan district is a part of Saran Division since 1972. The district was previously also known as Aliganj Siwan after the name of Raja Ali Bux Khan. Siwan has historical and mythological importance attached to it. 2011 Census Of India
The 2011 Census of India or the 15th Census of India, Indian Census was conducted in two phases, house listing and population enumeration. The House listing phase began on 1 April 2010 and involved the collection of information about all buildings. Information for National Population Register (NPR) was also collected in the first phase, which will be used to issue a 12-digit unique identification number to all registered Indian residents by Aadhaar, Unique Identification Authority of India.
