Barbara Scherler
Barbara Scherler (born 20 January 1933) is a German classical mezzo-soprano and contralto singer in opera and concert. She was a member of the Deutsche Oper Berlin and active in performances and recordings of operas of the 20th century. Career Born in Leipzig, Scherler studied at the Musikhochschule Berlin and with Margarete Bärwinkel. She made her opera debut in 1959 at the Staatsoper Hannover in the part of Cherubino in Mozart's ''Le nozze di Figaro''. She remained a member of the opera house until 1964. She was engaged at the Cologne Opera until 1968 and since a member of the Deutsche Oper Berlin. She sang in the premieres of operas, in 1976 in Toshiro Mayuzumi’s '' Kinkakuji'' after Mishima Yukio's novel ''The Temple of the Golden Pavilion'', in 1979 in Wilhelm Dieter Siebert's '' Der Untergang der Titanic'', and in 1984 in Aribert Reimann’s ''Die Gespenstersonate'' (''The Ghost Sonata''), after August Strindberg. Leipzig

Lulu (opera)
''Lulu'' (composed from 1929 to 1935, premièred incomplete in 1937 and complete in 1979) is an opera in three acts by Alban Berg. Berg adapted the libretto from Frank Wedekind's two ''Lulu'' Play (theatre), plays, ''Erdgeist'' (''Earth Spirit (play), Earth Spirit'', 1895) and ''Die Büchse der Pandora'' (''Pandora's Box (play), Pandora's Box'', 1904). Berg died before completing the third and final act, and the opera was typically performed as a "torso" until Friedrich Cerha's 1979 orchestration of the act 3 sketches, which is now established as the standard version. ''Lulu'' is notable for using twelve-tone technique during a time that was particularly inhospitable to it. Theodor W. Adorno praised it as "one of those works that reveals the extent of its quality the longer and more deeply one immerses oneself in it." Penthesilea (opera)
''Penthesilea'' is a one-act opera by Othmar Schoeck, to a German-language libretto by the composer, after the work of the same name by Heinrich von Kleist. It was first performed at the Staatsoper in Dresden on 8 January 1927. Schoeck used the contrast between C major and F major as a musical basis for his work. Robin Holloway has noted the similarity of theme to Richard Strauss' '' Elektra'', as well as Schoeck's use of two pianos in the instrumentation. Alberto Erede
Alberto Erede (8 November 1909 – 12 April 2001) was an Italian conductor, particularly associated with operatic work. Biography Born in Genoa, Erede studied there before studying at the Verdi Conservatory in Milan, then with Felix Weingartner at Basel, and after this with Fritz Busch at Dresden.Alberto Erede. Teresa Żylis-Gara
Teresa Żylis-Gara (23 January 1930 – 28 August 2021) was a Polish operatic soprano who enjoyed a major international career from the 1950s through the 1990s. She made her stage debut at the Opera Krakowska in 1958 in the title role of Moniuszko's '' Halka'', and later recorded Chopin's Polish songs and songs by Karol Szymanowski. After achieving 3rd prize at the ARD International Music Competition in 1960, she became an ensemble member of the Oper Dortmund and the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. ''Anna Bolena'' is a tragic opera (''tragedia lirica'') in two acts composed by Gaetano Donizetti. Felice Romani wrote the Italian libretto after Ippolito Pindemonte's ''Enrico VIII ossia Anna Bolena'' and Alessandro Pepoli's ''Anna Bolena'', both recounting the life of Anne Boleyn, the second wife of England's King Henry VIII. Erich Leinsdorf
Erich Leinsdorf (born Erich Landauer; February 4, 1912 – September 11, 1993) was an Austrian-born American conductor. He performed and recorded with leading orchestras and opera companies throughout the United States and Europe, earning a reputation for exacting standards as well as an acerbic personality. He also published books and essays on musical matters. Biography Leinsdorf was born to a Jewish family in Vienna, and was studying music at a local school by the age of 5. He played the cello and studied composition. In his teens, Leinsdorf worked as a piano accompanist for singers.
