Barbara Calandra Moore (1952 – March 11, 2010) was a United States diplomat who served as United States Ambassador to Nicaragua. Moore was nominated to be Ambassador to the Republic of Nicaragua by President George W. Bush in May 2002. She arrived in Nicaragua September 12, 2002 and presented credentials to President Enrique Bolaños on September 13, 2002. Moore was a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, class of Minister Counselor. She joined the United States Information Agency in 1974. Her most recent assignment before being nominated as Ambassador to Nicaragua was as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Bogotá, Colombia (1998–2002), where she played a major role in the conception and implementation of Plan Colombia. Barbara Moore (7 March 1932 – 26 August 2021) was an English composer, arranger and vocalist for film, television and commercials. She was a member of the musical trios the Ladybirds and the Breakaways and a backing vocalist for Dusty Springfield. She coordinated the vocals on the New Seekers' single "I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing" and was the voice behind the 1960s TV adventure series ''The Saint''. She also rearranged "At the Sign of the Swingin' Cymbal", an instrumental composition that served as the theme tune for Alan Freeman's ''Pick of the Pops''. Barbara Moore, born Anna Cherkasova (russian: Анна Черкасова; 22 December 1903 – 14 May 1977), was a Russian-born British engineer who attempted to gain celebrity status in the early 1960s for her long-distance walking and promotion of questionable health fads. Biography Moore was among the first generation of Soviet female engineers after the Russian Revolution. In 1932, she became the Soviet Union's long-distance motorcycle champion. She immigrated to Great Britain in 1939, marrying an art teacher, Harry Moore. They later separated. She also used the name Barbara Moore-Pataleewa. In December 1959, she walked from Edinburgh to London. In early 1960, she walked from John o'Groats to Land's End in 23 days.
