Barbados Royals
The Barbados Royals (previously known as the Barbados Tridents) are the representative franchise cricket team of Barbados in the Caribbean Premier League. They are one of the six teams specifically created in 2013 for the 2013 Caribbean Premier League, inaugural season of the tournament. Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg had an equity interest in the team since 2013 after he was introduced to the game by his friend Ajmal Khan, the club's chairman and CPL architect. In 2014 CPL they qualified for the champions league. They were out of the tournament in the group stage managing to win only one of their four matches. On 30 July 2021, it was announced that the team name would be changed from the Barbados Tridents to the Barbados Royals. Trevor Penney
Trevor Lionel Penney (born 12 June 1968) is a Zimbabwean former cricketer who played for Warwickshire County Cricket Club. Justin Pierre Greaves (born 26 February 1994) is a Barbadian cricketer who has played for both Barbados and the Combined Campuses and Colleges in West Indian domestic cricket. Rahkeem Rashawn Shane Cornwall (born 1 February 1993) is an Antiguan cricketer. Left-arm orthodox spin or left-arm off spin, also known as slow left-arm orthodox spin bowling, is a type of spin bowling in cricket. Dunith Nethmika Wellalage (born 9 January 2003) is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer currently plays limited overs cricket for the national side.
