Barasat II is a community development block that forms an administrative division in Barasat Sadar subdivision of North 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Geography Rohanda, a constituent panchayat of Barasat II block, is located at . Barasat II CD Block is bounded by Barasat I CD Block in the north, Deganga and Haroa CD Blocks in the west and Rajarhat CD Block in the south. Barasat Sadar Subdivision
Barasat Sadar subdivision is an administrative subdivision of the North 24 Parganas district in the Indian States and territories of India, state of West Bengal. After transferring Rajarhat, Rajarhat-Gopalpur Municipality and Rajarhat (Community development block) to Bidhannagar subdivision, Barasat Sadar subdivision's total area became 894.61 km2 (345.41 sq mi), population became 2,196,874 (2011 Census) and density became 2,500/km2 (6,400/sq mi). Hooghly River
The Hooghly River (, also spelled ''Hoogli'' or ''Hugli'') is the westernmost distributary of the Ganges, situated in West Bengal, India. It is known in its upper reaches as the Bhagirathi. Barasat
Barasat () is a city and a municipality of North 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is the headquarters of Barasat Sadar subdivision. It is a part of the area covered by Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA). History During the Mughal Empire period, Sankar Chakraborty (a commander of the zamindar Pratapaditya and king of Jessore in present-day Bangladesh) came to Barasat, Kolkata in 1600 and established himself. In 1700, Hazarat Ekdil Shah moved to the town and was known as a social reformer. His tomb, in Kazipara, is a pilgrimage site for the Muslim community. Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation
Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation is the local government responsible for the civic infrastructure and administration of Salt Lake and Rajarhat areas in Greater Kolkata. Dum Dum is a city and a municipality in the Kolkata Metropolitan Area of North 24 Parganas district in the Indian States and territories of India, state of West Bengal. Madhyamgram is a city and a municipality of North 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is a part of the area covered by Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA). History Madhyamgram was one of the twelve feudal provinces of Bengal. It was under Pratapaditya Roy, ruler of Jessore during the Mughal Empire.
