Baptists are a Christian denomination, denomination within Protestant Christianity distinguished by baptizing only professing Christian believers (believer's baptism) and doing so by complete Immersion baptism, immersion. Baptist churches generally subscribe to the Christian theology, doctrines of soul competency (the responsibility and accountability of every person before God in Christianity, God), ''sola fide'' (salvation by faith alone), ''sola scriptura'' (the Bible is the sole infallible authority, as the rule of faith and practice) and Congregationalist polity, congregationalist church government. The United Baptist Church of Mozambique () is a Baptist Christian denomination in Mozambique. The headquarters is in Maputo. History The Church has its origins in 1921 with the building of a mission by the Swedish Scandinavian Independent Mission in Maputo. In 1970, the Evangelical Baptist Church and the Scandinavian Baptist Mission merged to form the United Baptist Church of Mozambique. History Background Baptist work in Hong Kong traces its roots from the first missionaries sent by the Triennial Convention to work with the Chinese.
