Banovo Brdo
Banovo Brdo ( sr-cyrl, Баново брдо, ) is a neighbourhood of Belgrade, Serbia. It is located in Belgrade's municipality of Čukarica. Location Banovo Brdo is bounded by the neighborhoods of Čukarica and Čukarička Padina in the west, Ada Ciganlija and Careva Ćuprija in the north, Topčider and Košutnjak in the east and Žarkovo and Julino Brdo in the south. Eastern parts of Banovo Brdo make two sub-neighborhoods, Golf Naselje and Sunčana Padina. Banovo Brdo is away from downtown Belgrade and stretches along both sides of the major traffic and commercial route in this part of the city, the ''Požeška'' Street. Žarkovo ( sr-Cyrl, Жарково, ) is an List of Belgrade neighborhoods, urban neighborhood of Belgrade, Serbia. It is located in Belgrade's municipality of Čukarica. Location and divisions Žarkovo (Greater Žarkovo) is one of the most populous single neighborhoods of Belgrade. As such, it is divided in several sub-neighborhoods, which were built as Žarkovo's extensions: Julino Brdo and Repište, Belgrade, Repište to the north, Cerak-Cerak, Cerak II to the west and Bele Vode and Rupčine to the south. In general, Greater Žarkovo is bordered by the Čukarica, Banovo Brdo to the north, Košutnjak to the east, Skojevsko Naselje to the northeast and Makiš to the west. Jovan Dučić
Jovan Dučić ( sr-Cyrl, Јован Дучић, ; 15 February 1872 – 7 April 1943) was a Serbs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serb poet-diplomat and academic. He is one of the most influential Serbian lyricists and Modernist poetry, modernist poets. Dučić published his first collection of poetry in Mostar in 1901 and his second in Belgrade in 1908. He also wrote often in prose, writing a number of literary essays, studies on writers, letters by poets from Switzerland, Greece and Spain and the book ''Blago cara Radovana'' for which he is most remembered when it comes to his writing. Stevan Todorović
Stevan Todorović ( sr-cyr, Стеван Тодоровић; Novi Sad, 1832–Belgrade, 1925) was a Serbian painter and the founder of modern fencing and Sokol movement in Yugoslavia. Biography Born in Novi Sad, Todorović moved in 1839 to Szeged, where he completed elementary school and five grades of high school. In 1850 he relocated to Vienna to study art. After several years in Vienna, he settled in Belgrade, where he was engaged with a gymnastic and fencing club, as well as theatre. He also ran a successful drawing school. In 1864, he married painter Poleksija Todorović (née Ban), who was his wife for over sixty years. Matija Ban
Matija Ban ( sr-Cyrl, Матија Бан; 6 December 1818 – 14 March 1903) was a Serbo- Croatian poet, dramatist, and playwright. He is known as one of the earliest proponents of the Serb-Catholic movement in Dubrovnik. Ban was born in Petrovo Selo near Dubrovnik, then in the Kingdom of Dalmatia in the Austrian Empire, now in Croatia. After working as a language teacher in Greek schools in Constantinople and Bursa, Matija Ban settled in Serbia in 1844. He is commonly regarded as being the first to use the term " Yugoslav", in a poem in 1835. In 1848 he came from Serbia to Dalmatia to study the state of national sentiment there. He returned to Belgrade in 1850 to teach at the Lyceum.
